You’re fired! (by Sunil Bhutani)

"You're fired" The famous last words we hear every Thursday night on the Apprentice as Donald Trump eliminates someone from the boardroom. The reason? Very simple -- even though they were given clear instructions and knowledge ahead of time they were unable to deliver on the task at hand. Selfishness, ego, infighting or some other form of negativity prevented them from achieving this goal. You fail to accomplish the goal and you are eliminated from the boardroom -- no second chances. Now put yourself in the boardroom. Not the Trump boardroom but the spiritual boardroom where sitting across the table from you is not Trump but our SatGuru himself. Your goal, is to be a good Gursikh. How would you fare? Would you be "fired"? The knowledge or Gyan has been given to us (often more than once) and our goal has been clearly defined -- be a good Gursikh. Yet most of us are unable to deliver on the task at hand. Our ego or selfishness or some other shortcoming prevents us from achieving the goal. I would say the answer is yes - most of us would be fired. Speaking personally I know I definitely would make the exit from the boardroom very quickly. Fortunately our spiritual world is not as harsh as the corporate world. We are blessed to have a Guru who repeatedly forgives us for our mistakes -- he gives us second, third and even a fourth chances. He just smiles and repeatedly keeps guiding us down the right path -- repeatedly giving us the knowledge. Just because he will never "fire" us, let's not take his generosity for granted. Let’s not take him for granted. Let’s not take his Gyan for granted.
