3rd Annual Seminar on

PHYSICAL, SOCIAL & SPIRITUAL WELL-BEING OF WOMEN

For the past three years, Sant Nirankari Mission’s Fort Lauderdale chapter has been organizing Women’s Physical, Social & Spiritual Well-Being in conjunction with South Florida Hindu Temple. The event was a focus on the Body, Mind & Soul of a Woman. The month of March is Women’s month and to celebrate International Women’s Day on March 8th, this event was organized on Saturday, March 4th 2017, at South Florida Hindu Temple in Davie.

MEDITATION: The Women’s Seminar started with a meditation session By Kanchana Krishnan ji from Hamsa Meditation. She is the winner of several literary awards and her latest book, "The Present: a Gift from the Divine," has received a rare endorsement from H.H. Dalai Lama. The meditation session attracted many people from the local community.

PEACE IN EVERYDAY LIFE: was a session taught by Mrs. Harlivleen Bajwa ji, from Michigan. Mrs. Bajwa is the National Social Welfare in-charge for Sant Nirankari Mission. We all strive to attain peace and Mrs. Bajwa ji talked about how we can achieve it. God Knowledge and its significance was discussed as being vital for inner peace.

DADI MAA KE NUSKHE: The next presenter was very interesting. Billo Jolly is a Culinary Expert who shared some of her ancient secrets about natural remedies for all sorts of things. Everyday kitchen ingredients are used to cure most everyday ailments. Most ingredients used were what you will find in your kitchen.

SUFI MUSIC FOR THE SOUL: was Sufi Music by Sital Chodhary ji & Sumeeta Bhogal ji from Toronto. Sital Chodhary ji enthralled everyone with Sufi music and he was joined by Sumeeta Bhogal ji from Toronto, Canada. We had heard her singing last year when she was singing on stage with Bollywood singer Kamal Khan of Ishq Sufiana fame. BRIDGING THE GENERATION GAP: This next segment was a focus on the youngsters by Simran Sahi ji from Washington DC. She talked to the youth about how to Bridge the generation gap with their parents. Very often we notice that the youth are often torn between two cultures and are constantly trying to establish their identity. This segment transitioned into an interactive session between Preet Sahi ji: as a parent, and Simran Sahi ji: as the youth. This was a mother-daughter session with a focus on issues faced by parents and children in a dual culture

TODAY’S BALANCED WOMAN: in which Preet Sahi ji talking about how women can create a balanced life. Women multi-task between work, home and the society and also try to live through relationships as a daughter, sister, wife, mother and so much more.

CANCER AWARENESS FOR EVERY WOMAN: Dr. Reshma Lillaney Mahtani is a Cancer Specialist, who works very closely on the board with American Cancer Society. She talked about cancer awareness, in which she made the attendees aware about how to get checked up in all areas so that we can use preventative measures to avoid this deadly disease, which is spreading rapidly.
                                                      

AWARD CEREMONY: Women of Inspiration from the community were recognized, who are an inspiration for others and have contributed significantly for the betterment of the community. Ramola Motwani & Ghazala Salam were given the honors amongst many of the community’s dignitaries and elected officials. Mayor Judy Paul: Town of Davie, Caryl Hattan: Council Woman, Town of Davie, Mayor of Lauderdale Lakes and local politician: Sajan Kurian came in as special guests.

                                           

The afternoon ended with another segment of Sufi Music by Sital Chodhary ji and Sumeeta Bhogal ji. Tea & Snacks were served. Sewa Dal members from Sant Nirankari Mission's Atlanta Chapter also came in and helped out with the event. A Publication booth was set up where free literature was given out to all the attendees who were interested.

With Satguru Mataji’s grace, the event was very successful and a lot of positive feedback was received from the local community. The South Florida Hindu Temple was very supportive of the Sant Nirankari Mission’s initiatives and a heartfelt gratitude goes out to the temple board for their continued support and cooperation year after year.
