SNM Members at Fort Lauderdale Airport Shooting Incident

January 6th 2017

It was extremely disheartening to get the news about the Shooting incident at the Fort Lauderdale Airport on January 6th 2017. While we were still amidst our prayers for all those affected by this horrific tragedy, we received a call from a member of the Mission from the Toronto chapter: notifying us that 39 members from the Toronto branch were returning from a cruise and were in Fort Lauderdale during that time.
22 members were on their way to the airport and 17 members were inside the airport already.
All of them were getting ready to catch their flights back to Toronto.

Members who hadn't reached the airport yet, were asked to come to a safe location at one of the local members home. 17 members were stranded for about 11 hours at the airport due to the airport lockdown.

Local members were finally able to get them from the airport around 10.30 pm after 11 hours. These members did not have their luggage with them. Due to the panic and mob situation at the airport, some of them received minor scratches, swollen knees and ankle etc. Some of them could not grab their purses due to the sudden terror. Most of them had only eaten breakfast all day. Amongst them, were a few small children also.

Although most of them were a bit shaken up due to the circumstances but everyone had expressed their gratitude that with Nirankar’s grace, they all were ok.
Local members were able to buy basic supplies needed for the children and food was served to them all.
With Satguru Mataji's blessings they were all ok and hotel arrangements have been made for everyone. Since the Fort Lauderdale airport was shut down, members made alternative arrangements for their return flights.

January 7th and 8th was a Prachaar tour visit by Respected Gobind Singh ji, who is the Executive Committee members of SNM, USA. Satsang programs were organized in Fort Lauderdale and Fort Myers under his divine presence. Toronto members attended both congregations to seek his blessings.
