Cancer Walk - Relay for Life by American Cancer Society

With the increasing awareness in Cancer research and cure, there
has been an intense need to serve Cancer victims and survivors.
The Sant Nirankari Mission has recognized the need to support
such causes and recently organized Cancer Walks in four
different branches in USA. On February 18th 2017, the chapters
of New York, Houston and Washington organized this walk to
support Cancer, as an initiative towards Sant Nirankari
Mission’s involvement in the United Nations
The Fort Lauderdale chapter organized the Cancer Walk on April 29, 2017, in collaboration with American Cancer Society and was awarded as the Bronze Team for being in the Fifth position out of forty teams for the highest amount donated to American Cancer Society. Total amount donated was $3020.00. Respected Dr. Jyoti Kalra ji, Pramukh, Chicago also graced the event with his presence along with his wife Rama Kalra ji. They both participated in the Cancer Walk as Cancer Caregivers because Dr. Kalra ji is a Radiologist and primarily treats Cancer patients.
A Bone Marrow Drive was also arranged simultaneously with Be The match organization to find bone marrow donors for currently affected patients who are awaiting a match.
The local chapter organized a booth in which they sold the Mission’s literature and food items prepared by the satsang members and local community members. Local businesses also contributed towards donating food items for sale. All proceeds from the sales were donated to American Cancer Society. Donations were also collected and a 100% of all proceeds were donated to American Cancer Society.
The Sant Nirankari Mission team participated in many activities throughout the day, which included participation in the Cancer Walk, Relay Race, Musical Chairs, Three Leg Race, Water Balloon game and much more.
Local sangat members came in the First position in the Three-leg race, came into the Third place in the Team relay race and did very well in the Musical Chairs. The SNM Team was acknowledged on stage.
With Satguru Mataji’s blessings, the event was a divine experience and we feel very blessed to have received the opportunity to serve Humanity.
