Feeding the Needy

Sunday, August 28, 2016

On Sunday, August 28th, 2016 the Fort Lauderdale Chapter volunteered to serve food to the homeless at the Broward Outreach Center in Pompano Beach. The Outreach Center has a residential program for men, women, and families who want to reform their lives and give their families a better future. They help residents with seeking jobs and finding a place of their own and guide them to the right path. The Broward Outreach Center serves approximately 175-200 homeless people on any given day. Many different organizations join hands with the Outreach Center to give a helping hand.

This opportunity to serve Humanity came around the time of the year that marks the Death Anniversary of Her Holiness Rajmata ji, who merged into the formless Nirankar on August 29th 2014. The Sant Nirankari Mission observes Mukti Purv Diwas, in this month in memory of the former Satgurus and saints who left a legacy on the path of the eternal truth. This was also the Fort Lauderdale chapter’s first opportunity to organize a Social Welfare activity for “HUMANNESS” in the divine era of the Satguru Mata Savinder Hardev ji Maharaj.

We were also blessed with the presence of Rev. Ashok Wahi ji: Pramukh, New Jersey metro area who was visiting Fort Lauderdale on a personal visit. He joined hands with the local saints in serving the homeless and gave his blessings to the sadh sangat.

Saints from the local chapter served lunch to three different groups of homeless people who were categorized as the Newcomers, the Men's group and the Women and Families group. Volunteers served the main meal, salad, fruit, snacks and drinks, which were already prepared by the shelter. The local saints got an opportunity to interact with a section of the community that longs for compassion; which, the saints were able to offer.

We thank our Satguru for blessing us with the opportunity to practice Humanness and we hope to contribute more towards the community so that we can spread love and compassion as our Satguru desires.
