Guru & God! Sant Nirankari Mission!

Welcome to this episode of Radio Ruhaniyat and thanks for joining us! I’m Preet Sahi.

The Sant Nirankari Mission is a spiritual organization with a focus on Oneness, Love and Peace; treating all of Humanity as one family: “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam”

The ideology of the Sant Nirankari Mission is Self-Realization through God-Realization and this can only be achieved through a Guru. The Guru who gives the knowledge of the truth: the Satya, is called Satguru. For this reason, the mission believes in a living Guru.

As per the scriptures, there are 8.4 million births and rebirths in which the soul changes the body from one species to another. From creatures that swim in the sea, to the ones who walk on land and to the ones who fly in the sky, all are a part of the cycle of births and rebirths. The human birth is above all and is precious. It is only in this birth form, that we have been granted the capability to realize God and hence realize our own self. If we fail to achieve our goal of Self-realization through God-Realization, then we go back into the cycle of 8.4 million births. Eventually our soul comes back as a human being and gets the opportunity to know God. Those who realize the significance of Spirituality, tend to prioritize God above anything else in their lives.

For a devotee who understands spirituality, there is no difference between God and Guru. The Satguru is the embodiment of God. Those who believe it will start seeing and experiencing the Satguru’s omnipresence.

Kahe Avtar Guru hi rab hai, is vich koi bhulekha nai”: There is no doubt that Guru is God Himself

Then why are God and Satguru always referred to as two entities? God is the supreme entity who created the Satguru but He himself is confined in its ‘Maun’ or silent state. He is ever so powerful but has also bestowed all His powers to the Satguru with added qualities such as the physical presence in a human body that can speak and interact with us.

The Satguru also has the power to change God’s destined paths. God creates destiny for each soul but the Satguru has the power to change our destiny.

The Guru Granth Sahib says: “Teen lok nau khand mein, Gur se barha na koi, karta kare, na kar sake, Gur chahe so hoe”: There is none above the Guru in this entire world. Even when God Himself doesn’t do something, if the Guru desires, He can make it happen.

In the Sant Nirankari Mission, God is referred to as “Nirankar”: Nir-Akar: One who is Formless.

When we pray, we do Simran, We say: “Tu Hi Nirankar, Mein Teri Sharan haan, Mainu baksh lao”: One thou Formless, I surrender myself to thee, please forgive me and bless me.

TU: We are talking to Nirankar. Enlightened souls can see God’s formlessness and talk to him. Simran is a direct communication between Nirankar and us.

The Satguru’s physical body cannot be everywhere. We have been introduced to this formlessness so we can live in God’s divine awareness through every moment.

We do Nirankar’s Simran and the Satguru’s Bhakti.

I have often prayed to Nirankar and the answer to my prayers comes from the Satguru or His/Her saints. Satguru is the action that comes from Nirankar. Satguru gives us Gyan or God Knowledge and introduces us and connects us to Nirankar saying from here on, establish a direct relationship with Nirankar because the awareness and the ehsaas of Nirankar is in which we should start living through every breath. At the same time, we cannot forget the Satguru because there is no awareness of God without the Satguru. Both have their significance but the Satguru is the connection between Nirankar and us. If we forget the Satguru, our connection with Nirankar breaks. We ARE, because of the Satguru. Without the Satguru, even Nirankar cannot reveal himself. The Gurbani says “Har ne apna aap chupaya, Gur ne pargat kar dikhlaya”: God cannot reveal himself on His own. It is through the Guru that we come to know God.

Nirankar, Satguru and Sadh Sangat: the devotees are the three angles in a triangle. Take out one and our existence becomes incomplete. Both the Satguru and Nirankar reach out to us and speak to us through saints in the Sadh Sangat. They carry on their tasks through saints as their instruments.

Once Baba Gurbachan Singh ji, the 3rd Guru of the Sant Nirankari Mission, was on stage and Shastri ji was doing the stage secretary sewa. The Sangat got delayed. When it was time for vichaar, Baba ji only spoke for 7 minutes to finish the Sangat on time. Afterwards, Shastri ji asked for forgiveness from Babaji that He could only speak for 7 minutes. Babaji then questioned Shastri ji asking who was speaking before him? He said that He himself had been speaking all along in the Sangat through the saints, so not to worry.

We need to give each one; it’s significance for completion to our divine journey.

But above all, Satguru has a lot of significance because without the Satguru we would not know God.

And as said in the Guru Granth sahib: “Aise Gur se tan man varu, Har taju, par Gur na visaru”

Knowing when to turn to God and when to the Satguru is an art that comes from spiritual wisdom.

Bhakti or devotion leads to spiritual wisdom!

And remember: There is only one religion in the world and that is Humanity!

-Until next time, this is Preet Sahi reminding you to Stay Spiritual!
