Hello everyone! Thanks for joining us and welcome to this episode of Radio Ruhaniyat!

As the year 2017 comes to an end, most of us are probably reflecting on the times gone and looking forward to a bright and happy 2018. There have been many lessons learnt this year as we’ve all grown a year older and better experienced than before. This is that time of the year when most of us start promising ourselves to recondition our lives and give it a fresh new start with a new and improved US. We reconfigure ourselves and reset our mind to make it right this time. Inspiration and motivation is at its peak and we hope for the best times yet to come. We all enter the New Year with the hope that the coming year would be our year to sparkle!

In reality, life does not know whether it’s a new day, a new week, a new month or a new year. Life just happens! It is us who can make life bitter or better with our state of mind. This time around, if we reinforce inspiration and motivation in ourselves, we can handle every situation better. We just have to be sincere and focused positively towards life.

The situations in life don’t change. Ups and downs are a given but our attitude towards life determines how easy or difficult life gets for us. Positivity and a healthy attitude will invite God’s blessings and good fortune.

There once was a very wealthy and curious king. This king had a huge boulder placed in the middle of a road. Then he hid nearby to see if anyone would try to remove the gigantic rock from the road.

The first people to pass by were some of the king’s wealthiest merchants and courtiers. Rather than moving it, they simply walked around it. A few loudly blamed the King for not maintaining the roads. Not one of them tried to move the rock.

Finally, a peasant came along. His arms were full of vegetables. When he got near the boulder, rather than simply walking around it as the others had, the peasant put down his load and tried to move the stone to the side of the road. It took a lot of effort but he finally succeeded.

The peasant gathered up his load and was ready to go on his way when he saw a purse lying on the road where the boulder had been. The peasant opened the purse. It was stuffed with gold coins and a note from the king. The king’s note said the gold in the purse was a reward for moving the boulder from the road.

The king showed the peasant what many of us never understand: every obstacle presents an opportunity to improve our condition and sparkle in life.

There are many such opportunities God puts on our path everyday. Problems are in fact not negative situations; they are blessings in disguise that help us grow internally and sparkle.

May the New Year inspire us to put in our best efforts towards life and may life reward us with the best it has in store for us.

Those who never give up are in fact the ones who succeed in life no matter what circumstances they go through. Life can sparkle at any age as long as we carry the right attitude.

Once, there was an older man, who was broke, living in a tiny house and owned a beat up car. He was living off of $99 social security checks. At 65 years of age, he decided that things had to change. So he thought about what he had to offer. His friends raved about his chicken recipe. He decided that this was his best shot at making a change.

He left Kentucky and traveled to different states to try to sell his recipe. He told restaurant owners that he had a mouthwatering chicken recipe. He offered the recipe to them for free, just asking for a small percentage on the items sold. Sounds like a good deal, right?

Unfortunately, not to most of the restaurant owners! He heard NO over a 1000 times. Even after all of those rejections, he didn’t give up. He believed his chicken recipe was something special. He got rejected 1009 times before he heard his first YES.

With that one success Colonel Hartland Sanders changed the way Americans eat chicken. Kentucky Fried Chicken, popularly known as KFC, was born.

Remember, never give up and always believe in yourself and never let rejection put you down. Start the New Year with a new and improved YOU! Just know it that you are now better than ever and there in absolutely nothing that you cannot handle. Let the New Year inspire and motivate you to be the best you’ve ever been. And do tell yourself that this year you will make it happen; and that there is nothing that will stop you from achieving your goals.

And remember: This is your year to SPARKLE!!!
