Be Potentially Divine! Be the Environment!

They say: “A man is judged by the company he keeps”. While living in this totally materialistic world, we struggle everyday to keep ourselves balanced. As much as our mind fluctuates and tries to lure us into temptations, an enlightened mind is strong enough to know where to draw the line. It is the weak mind, which gets lured into temptations. Life is more about doing what is right versus what we feel like doing.
Those who keep their mind on check will never find life difficult, no matter what their circumstances.

A youth member shared a beautiful explanation by Swami Vivekananda: Explaining the meaning of ‘Association’, He said:
“The rain drop from the sky: if it is caught in hands, is pure enough for drinking. If it falls in a gutter, its value drops so much that it can’t be used even for washing the feet. If it falls on hot surface, it perishes. If it falls on lotus leaf, it shines like a pearl and finally, if it falls on oyster, it becomes a pearl. The drop is the same, but its existence & worth depend on whom it associates with.”
Always be associated with people who are good at heart.
Spiritual Satsangs and Congregations are one such platform where inner growth and development take place in the subtlest manner. Every Satsang attended is a stepping-stone to divine intervention. Ii is through satsangs, that we become aware of who we are and what our goal is. We start understanding the difference between controlling our mind versus letting the mind control us.

Our environment plays an incredible role in grooming and nurturing us into what we make of ourselves. But when the mind is aware, it becomes strongly inclined towards righteousness and helps us develop the capability to stand our ground no matter what our environment. Little Prahlad was confident enough to stand in opposition to his own father who was the cruel King Harnakshyap. Even though Sant Kabir lived in very humble surroundings, his devotion for divinity gave him the eternal treasure of God-Knowledge. Mira Bai was born in a royal family but she gave up everything for the eternal treasure of Divine-Knowledge.
When we surrender ourselves to God and let Him take over, we get blessed to create a divine environment no matter where we go. We reach a stage when we are not dependent on the environment, but we become the environment. Hence the saying: “God made man in His own image”.

Every human being is “POTENTIALLY DIVINE”!
Those who prioritize Divinity,
Will achieve EVERLASTING divine powers.
Those who prioritize Material Wealth; might achieve it,
But will eventually leave it BEHIND!

Our true identity is our soul, not the body. Our goal in life is Self-Realization through God-Realization; which leads to Mukti or Nirvana, or Salvation of this soul. Careers, money, material pleasures and worldly comforts are by-the-way factors of this life, not the goal of life. Our soul, as it lives in this body starts identifying itself as the body. It starts relating itself to being Hindu, Muslim, Sikh or Christian….or whatever its bodily background. It is through Realization that the soul gets enlightened to its existence. It is like the drop of the ocean, which is longing for its union with the ocean. Just like a ray of the Sun, belongs to the Sun and does not have an individual existence of its own or a wave in the ocean is part and parcel of the Ocean and does not have an existence of its own, in the same manner, our soul is part and parcel of the Formless God and does not have an individual existence of its own.

A potter makes different shapes of vessels with clay. The same exact clay is molded into different containers. A human body is also made of the same five elements no matter what each individual looks like. We all are just like those containers or vessels containing the soul and God is our potter. We have a journey to complete and the divine law requires us to live this journey with love and humility. We are all children of the same one God and He expects peace and harmony in His family. The Almighty has blessed us with counted number of breaths. We could last a lifetime or the very next breath could be our last. Lets not waste these precious moments for hatred, jealousy or discrimination.
As Nirankari Babaji always said: “Ek Umra bhi kam hai pyar karne ke liye, na jane kaise waqt nikalte hain log nafrat ke liye.”
Which means: “Even an entire lifetime is not enough to love, then how can people take out the time to hate.”

No mater how we feel, the fact still remains that there is nothing above God and hence nothing above Spirituality. Its time we all introspect and set our priorities right. Because the time to make a change is NOW!

-Until next time, this is Preet Sahi reminding you to Stay Spiritual!
