Michael and his Medications! The Satguru comes into this world for entire Humanity!

Hello everyone and thanks for tuning in once again, to Radio Ruhaniyat.
Every human being in this big wide world; is a child of the same one God! It doesn’t matter, which religious background we belong to or how strong our faith is. God works out scenarios for everyone in such a way that every single human being is being taken care of, in his or her own unique way.

I work in an Assisted Living Facility, which is like a Nursing Home for Senior Citizens. I had admitted a 90-year-old elderly gentleman named Michael, a few weeks ago. He came to us from a hospital because he had fallen in his apartment and couldn’t go back to live on his own because his condition had changed after the fall. His children lived out of town.

When Michael lived by himself, he was quite alert and was managing all his affairs himself. After the fall, he had become forgetful and needed help to perform his daily activities. When he was admitted into our facility, he brought along prescriptions for all his medications from the hospital, which were filled and he started getting his medications as prescribed. As the medications were being used up and it was time to get the refills, the pharmacy, used by our facility, said that they could not fill his prescriptions because his insurance was refusing to pay for them. When we checked with his insurance, they said they had already paid for a 90-day supply for his medications. When we asked Michael about it, he had no memory to explain why that might be so. In the insurance system, they had no records of which pharmacy they had paid for the 90-day supply of medications. Michael could not remember which pharmacy he was using prior to coming to our facility and neither did his children have any clue. The family sent someone to his previous apartment to see if there were any medications there, and they couldn’t find anything. They asked for time to figure out what was going on with their father’s affairs so they could resolve the problem.

It became a concern to fill Michael’s medications, especially when the insurance said that they will not pay for his medications for another two and a half months. Between phone calls back-and-forth, the weekend came and he ran out of medications. I started to get very concerned, wondering what will happen if Michael got sick without his medications. His doctor was made aware and his family promised me that they will find out what is going on with his insurance and will get back to me as soon as they could. There was nothing I could do at this point.

It was Saturday, July 1st 2017, and our local Sant Nirankari Mission chapter in Fort Lauderdale, FL was scheduled for a Food Drive for the homeless. As I stood there serving food to the homeless, I could see numerous notifications coming through my apple watch and I could tell from the texts, that Michael was getting very agitated and anxious without his medications. As I was actively serving the homeless, I couldn’t excuse myself to get on the phone to take care of this problem and had to wait till I was done. While I was serving the food, I was also doing “Simran” (prayer) and asking Nirankari Satguru Mata Savinder Hardev ji, to bless all that we serve.
Amidst all this, a verse from the holy Avtar Bani kept coming to my mind:
“Satguru aundaay duniya utte, saarey hi sansaar layee. Satguru aundaay duniya utte, kewal par-upkaar layee”

The True Master manifests in this world, for the entire Humanity,
The True Master manifests in this world, only for the benefaction of others.

I started praying to Satguru Mataji, asking her to bless everyone that we were serving. As I sought blessings for the homeless, I kept getting the texts from my staff about Michael and I kept praying for him along with my prayers for the homeless. In my mind I kept asking Satguru Mataji to bless both Michael and the homeless, because she is the Satguru for the entire humanity.

As soon as we were done, I called Michael’s family and requested them to pay for 4-5 day supply of medications letting them know that they had no option, until they could resolve this problem. It was a liability for the facility if he got sick. They agreed!
I then called his doctor and requested him to call in a 5-day supply of his medications into the pharmacy. By now, our regular pharmacy had already closed for the weekend. We normally use Publix or Walmart as our Back-up pharmacy. I don’t know what came to my mind that day, that I quickly looked up the phone number to the closest CVS pharmacy near me and asked the doctor to call in the medications into that CVS. He promptly did so. I gave the same number to Michael’s family and asked them to take care of the billing. They did so immediately. I then called that CVS and wanted to know when the medications would be ready. I got connected directly to the pharmacist. I usually hold very to-the-point conversations, but for whatever reason that day, I started chit-chatting with this pharmacist blabbering my story of how Michael needed the 5-day supply because his family could not track his medications or resolve the problem with his insurance company.

The pharmacist told me that he was going to check something and will put me on hold. In my mind, I knew that he put me on hold because I wouldn’t stop talking. When the pharmacist finally came back on the line, he said: “Guess what?” “What?” I asked. “I found Michael’s 90-day supply of medications!” I gasped for a moment and asked again: “Say what?” and he repeated: “ I found Michael’s 90-day supply of medications!”
“How did you do that?” I asked almost in disbelief. He said that he had checked the system to see if any of the CVS pharmacies in the area had his medications and sure enough, a CVS pharmacy in the city of Boca Raton had his medications. Michael had enrolled himself in an auto-fill program in which the medications were automatically filled every 90-days. Unfortunately, he neither remembered this fact nor did he know which pharmacy he used to use.
I requested the pharmacist to cancel his auto-fill program and transfer his already filled prescriptions from Boca Raton to this pharmacy. Within 10 minutes, the pharmacist called me back to tell me that the 90-day supply was ready to be picked up.

What are the odds that just randomly, out of hundreds of pharmacies in the area, I would choose a pharmacy that would solve my problem?
What are the odds that all this happened on a Saturday, when our own-affiliated pharmacy was closed and I had to choose a back-up pharmacy, which happened to have Michael’s medications?
What are the odds that the doctor would respond back to me and immediately take action on a Saturday?
What are the odds that I would start lamenting my dilemma to a perfect stranger on the phone, just so he could resolve my problem?
And what are the odds that instead of paying for a 5-day supply, Michael’s family actually found his 90-day supply of insurance-covered medications?

I picked up the medications from the pharmacy myself and as I drove to the facility to deliver them, I couldn’t wait to see the man for whom, the Satguru had chosen me to be her tool. It was a blessing to be able to serve!

I realized the significance of Simran and prayer and also experienced first hand, how the Satguru truly does manifest in this world, for the entire humanity.
“Satguru aundaay duniya utte, saarey hi sansaar layee”
There is so much power in prayer and asking for blessings for entire humanity: “Sarbat ka bhala”

And Remember: When we place everything in God’s hands, we will find God’s hand in everything!

-Until next time, this is Preet Sahi reminding you to Stay Spiritual!
