Satsang in Parkland! The Power of Prayer!

Hello everyone and welcome to another episode of Radio Ruhaniyat!

In this materialistic world, we hear more about the problems and difficulties in life than about how beautiful and blissful life can be. People today, focus so much on the day-to-day rut of life that it brings out in the open, how far they are from spirituality and for that matter, from God.

Life is beautiful even amidst its harsh realities but that beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder. Once we surrender to God, not only does life become easy, but problems also seem like daily transactions of life. They don’t seem difficult at all. Someone has beautifully said:

Don’t tell God how big your problem is; tell the problem how big your God is!

A few years back, a congregation member expressed her desire to organize a party for her husband’s birthday and she wanted to invite several congregation members from out of town as well. We had recently purchased a property, which was being converted into a new business location. It was in the process of being furnished and I offered that the out of town guests could stay at that location, as a convenience. The party was on a Saturday night and we thought that it would be a good idea to have a Satsang on Sunday morning before all the out of town guests went back to their towns. The only convenient and practical venue seemed to be the new property where everyone would be staying.

I went ahead and made arrangements for the Satsang on that Sunday morning. The property is in a gated community in which one has to have either a gate clicker or has to enter a gate code for gates to open for entry. That Saturday morning, I remembered that our gate code was not set up yet and being a weekend, the offices for the community were closed. I realized that it would be a big problem for all the Satsang attendees to enter the development. Not knowing what to do and how to handle the entry problem, I started telling the Satsang members to park outside the community and walk to the house, even though it was not the most practical thing to do. I was able to relay the message to some people and forgot quite a few others and then to add to it all, I did not remember who was told and who wasn’t.

My only option was to pray and do Simran and leave it up to God to help me with my problem. Sunday morning, I got so busy with the last minute preparations and helping the guests, that I forgot about the problem at the gate. The congregation started on time and we had a very good turnout especially with all the out of town guests from all over Florida. After the Satsang was over, it suddenly dawned on me that the gate entry was going to be a problem and I started wondering how everyone managed to enter the development. When I started asking how everyone entered, I was told that there was some problem with the gate mechanism, that the community had to leave the gates open till they were being fixed. When I had entered the development that morning, the gates were operating fine with my car clicker. Apparently something had gone wrong just before the congregation timings and the gates got fixed after the Satsang was over and done. I could not believe how God came to my aid and realized how much power there is in Prayer or Simran. In the Sant Nirankari Mission, the Simran translates to:
“Thou formless One, I surrender to you, Please forgive me and bless me”

God never lets our prayers go in vain. He just expects us to see the results from His point of view. Our prayers have to be morally sincere and genuine. When we remember God most of the time and are willing to surrender to Him so that He can take over and create the best possible outcomes, our lives become stress free. Obviously if the reins of our chariot are being led by God Himself, how can things go wrong?

Like they say: Prayer is not a "spare wheel" that you pull out when in trouble, but it is a "steering wheel" that directs the right path throughout. Our lives get evaluated spiritually by the amount of Faith we have in God. The more we depend on God, the easier it is to live life with the right state of mind. A devotee lives every moment of his life in God-awareness.

And as we always say:
God answers prayers in three ways:
He will either say YES and give you what you want…….
Or He will say NO and give you BETTER…..
Or He will say WAIT and give you the BEST……

-Until next time, this is Preet Sahi reminding you to Stay Spiritual!
