Mark and Bill! Humanity!

Hello everyone and thanks for joining us for another episode of Radio Ruhaniyat.

There are three types of people in this world: those who make things happen, those who watch things happening and those who wonder what happened. We all have a choice. You can decide which type of person you want to be. But I would feel blessed if I could fit into in the first group: “amongst people who always make things happen.

There was a boy named: Mark, who was walking home from school one day when he noticed that the boy ahead of him had tripped and dropped all of the books he was carrying, along with two sweaters, a baseball bat, a glove and a small tape recorder.
Mark knelt down and helped the boy pick up the scattered articles. Since they were going the same way, he helped to carry part of the burden.

As they walked, Mark discovered that the boy's name was Bill, that he loved video games, baseball and history, and that he was having lots of trouble with his classmates, and had just broken up with his girlfriend. They arrived at Bill's home first and Mark was invited in for a snack and to watch some television. The afternoon passed pleasantly with a few laughs and they shared small talk, and then Mark went home. They continued to see each other around school, had lunch together once or twice, and then both graduated from junior high. They ended up in the same high school where they had brief contacts over the years. Finally the long-awaited senior year came and three weeks before graduation, Bill asked Mark if they could talk. Bill reminded him of the day years ago when they had first met. "Did you ever wonder why I was carrying so many things home that day?" asked Bill.

"You see, I cleaned out my locker that day because I didn't want to leave a mess for anyone else. I had stored away some of my mother's sleeping pills and I was going home to commit suicide. But after we spent some time together talking and laughing, I realized that if I had killed myself, I would have missed out on that time and so many others that might follow. So you see, Mark, when you picked up those books that day, and spent the afternoon with me, you did a lot more than just give me a few laughs, you actually saved my life."

Such is the power of giving. Our aim should not be the end result. We should just focus on always doing the right thing. We should just keep doing our Karma irrespective of whether we feel like it or not. We all are humans first and then Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs or Christians. A prophet once asked, "Who is your greatest friend? And who is your worst enemy?" Everyone expressed his or her own opinion. Somebody said that a friend in need is a friend indeed. He or she helps us whenever we are in need. On the other hand, a person who creates hurdles in our way, tries to cause our downfall and spoils our image in the eyes of the world is our worst enemy.

But the prophet said, "YOUR BEST FRIEND IS THE PERSON WHO INTRODUCES YOU TO SATGURU, THE TRUE MASTER AND HE WHO SHAKES YOUR FAITH IN GOD IS YOUR WORST ENEMY"

Once you start walking on the path of spirituality, thereafter, every prayer you say throughout your life should include a thank you to God.

And Remember: When we hold a grudge against someone, we don't know its effect on them but it definitely disturbs our peace of mind. Therefore, Grudges and Hatred for others, is self-created punishment for our own selves. God created us to love one another and spread love!

-Until next time, this is Preet Sahi reminding you to Stay Spiritual!
