Satguru’s Adesh! Skattar Sandhu Ji’s Experience!
The Sant Nirankari Mission believes in the One Formless God. It is a Socio-Spiritual, practical and dynamic movement dedicated to establish love and peace. Since it started in 1929, it has been headed by a living Satguru who blesses and guides the devotees at every step.
I’d like to share an instance from Respected Skattar Sandhu ji’s life, who; currently lives in Toronto, Canada and is serving as one of the Board of Directors in Sant Nirankari Mission, Canada.
Sometimes we seek the blessing of the Satguru if there is a problem. The Satguru gives us advice to solve the problem in a certain way. Sometime the Satguru asks us what we are doing in terms of our life and we let him know. He/She gives us directions to proceed in a way we never thought about before. If you carry out His/Her commandment without any questions then, the task is accomplished without any delay. Instead, if you start using your intellect then nothing is really done. This is what happened to Skattar Sandhu ji in 1970, when Baba Gurbachan Singh Ji sent him to Canada. Babaji, Nirankari Rajmata Ji, and couple other devotees came to North America for the very first time for a tour. Skattar Sandhu ji, along with some other devotees went from Toronto to Madison, U.S.A. to welcome them.
Baba Gurbachan Singh ji, along with Rajmata ji and the others, had already arrived when they reached there. They were very excited to see Baba Ji and Rajmata Ji. They stayed there overnight to seek their blessings. That night Skattar Sandhu ji had the opportunity to walk with Baba Ji. He asked him what he was doing and he said, “With your blessings, I got immigration and now I am working.” He further asked if he had a driving license. He replied that he didn’t have one. Satguru Baba Ji instantly reminded him that he used to be a Mission driver in Bombay, so he should have already taken a driving license by now. They took His permission to leave for Toronto the next day. When they reached Toronto, Skattar Sandhu ji decided to go the Ministry of Transportation office after work to inquire about the driving license. The clerk informed him that he has to have a learning permit first so he handed a learning license booklet to him to study before the test. Skattar Sandhu ji told him that he wanted to take the test immediately but the instructor insisted that he come back after studying the booklet. Despite his warnings, he went to take the test that day. There were twenty people waiting to take the test before he entered the room. The examiner distributed the papers and gave instructions to them. He read all the questions and realized that he did not know any of the answers so he started to do Simran: which means remembrance of God. On the first question, which was multiple choices, he noticed that the answer was already lightly marked. As he continued the test, he realized that all of the answers were slightly marked as the first one was. Then he quickly marked all of the answers and turned the exam paper in. After he turned it in, the instructor told him that he knew that he would not know any of the answers because he did not study the book. He told him that he would get the result of the exam the next day. However, because he lived far from the office he requested that he gets the results that same day. The instructor asked Skattar Sandhu ji to wait for everyone to finish before giving the results, so he sat down in the waiting room. After the exam, he called him in and said that he was surprised to see his score. He asked,” How did you get 100% on the exam without studying?” He told him that he had not answered any of the questions and he showed him a picture of Baba Ji and said that He was the one who answered all of the questions. The instructor was quite astonished by this statement. Later he came to a rooming house where he used to stay with three other devotees. He showed them his learning permit. They were very surprised to see it. He told them this is the power of Satguru’s Adhesh or His instructions. His faith then became much stronger than it ever was before.
It is rightfully said that when we take one step towards God, He takes ten steps towards us. It is with Faith, Love and Humility, that we can conquer the unbelievable and will always be blessed with divine success as long as we can always learn to surrender to God’s will.
