The Special Order Refrigerator! Count Your Blessings!
The fact that we can breathe every moment; is a blessing. We take most of our blessings for granted. Imagine a life lived in total darkness if we had no vision. The green trees, the fish swimming in water, birds chirping…..are blessings that we often take for granted. The fact that we have a home to live in, that we have a body that can function reasonably: are all blessings.
Our life gets enhanced multifold when we live our blessed life, with surrender to God. Although God helps those who help themselves, but when we do everything with God’s blessings, the outcome is simply amazing. When you sit in a car to drive, surrender and invite God to come and handle your steering wheel. Although it is our duty to drive with alertness and utmost capability, but when God’s blessings are blended into each task, the results are awesome. If an employee is not doing their job right, surrender and ask God to take over when you have to diplomatically confront them. God gives us the capability to perform well. Imagine a life in which every moment is showered by God’s best wishes destined for you.
We have a hallway next to our kitchen, in which there is a second fridge for extra storage. The fridge is located in a space, which is a bit narrow that we could only fit a refrigerator with a depth of 26” or less. Since most standard refrigerators in the USA are bigger on depth, we had to settle with a size a bit smaller than what we wanted. When we were looking for such a fridge, a few years ago, I decided to put in some effort and hunt down something, which would have the right dimensions, so that we could have the right kind of fridge for convenience. I went to the first store and looked at about 50-60 refrigerators but none to suit the size we wanted. I was told that the fridge as per my specifications would have to be special ordered. My problem was that I did not want to order something without seeing, because if it did not meet my expectations, it would be a hassle to return it. I went to a second store and returned without any luck. I went to a third store, and this time I realized how much time was being wasted and I wondered if it would be worth it. I remembered God and asked Him to guide me so that I am not hunting for my purchase aimlessly. While I was still going through those thoughts, a salesperson came up to me and asked if I needed any assistance. I said sarcastically that I needed a lot of help, but doubt that I will get lucky. When he heard about my specifications, he took me straight to an area where merchandise was held and cut open a big box. Inside, was a huge fridge in stainless steel….that measured 26” in depth and was EXACTLY as per my specifications. I stood there staring at the fridge, still trying to believe my eyes. The salesperson explained that someone had special ordered this fridge with the EXACT same dimensions, but after it came in, they changed their mind. I almost gasped in awe. They had also marked it significantly low in price because they were afraid that no one will buy a fridge with unusual dimensions. As I paid for it, I told the salesperson that this particular fridge was special ordered just for me…..through a heavenly channel……
God comes to our aid ALL the time, but we usually forget to involve His blessings in every task that we perform. Whether a task is big or small, God’s blessings make every task blissful. We always have “wants & needs” and keep asking God to fulfill our materialistic desires. Have we been able to say to Him: Dear God, I would like to have things unfold this way, but you are a better judge of whether it would be good for me or not. Bless me with what is best for me and may every moment of my life be exactly how you have decided for me. What we need more in our lives is the wisdom to accept life as it unfolds as per God’s will for us. And for that, we need to learn to hand over all our problems and day to day tasks to God and then do our duty with our utmost capability.
Life becomes beautiful even amidst problems when we know that God is by our side. If we believe that God is everywhere, He is both around us and inside us. When in the middle of a dilemma, take a deep breathe: with the awareness that God is with you and will take care of your circumstances. You can’t ask for a better bodyguard than that. Ask Him to work through your hands so that you always do the right thing. Ask Him to speak through your tongue so that you always say the right thing. Ask Him to always function through your brain so that you always make the right decisions. When you make room for God in your thoughts…..you will eventually achieve God because ……God made man in His own image.
And always remember:
Don’t tell God how big your problem is, Tell your problem how big God is!
