The Bus Ride! Our Journey Together is Too Short!

We all come into this world with a round-trip ticket. As we all came, some day we shall return. This life is a journey and we never know when this trip will come to a halt and that would be the end of another phase for our soul. As we live through this journey we are at a constant war with ourselves trying to determine what is right or wrong.
Someone shared a lovely instance, which helps us determine how to look at life during this journey: A young lady sat in a bus. At the next stop a loud and bad-tempered old lady came and sat by her. She squeezed into the seat and bumped her with her numerous bags.

The person sitting on the other side of the young lady got upset, asked her why she did not speak up and say something. The young lady responded with a smile: "It is not necessary to be rude or argue over something so insignificant, the journey together is so short. I get off at the next stop."

This response deserves to be written in gold letters:
"It is not necessary to argue over something so insignificant, our journey together is so short"

If each one of us realized that our time here is so short; that to darken it with quarrels, futile arguments, not forgiving others, discontentment and a faultfinding attitude would be a waste of time and energy.

Did someone break your heart? Be calm; the journey is so short.
Did someone betray, bully, cheat or humiliate you? Be calm & forgive; the journey is so short.
Whatever troubles anyone brings, let us remember that our journey together is so short.
No one knows the duration of this journey. No one knows when his or her stop will come. Our journey together is really short. Let us cherish friends and family.
Let us be respectful, kind and forgiving towards each other. Let us be filled with gratitude and gladness.

If I have ever hurt you, I ask for your forgiveness. If you have ever hurt me, you already have my forgiveness. After all, Our Journey Together is so short!

Nirankari Baba Hardev Singh Ji always used to say that there isn’t enough time to love every one, then how how do people take out the time to hate. Living right requires submission of the mind to righteousness. The right environment is vital to a healthy state of mind. A spiritual environment always helps groom us into living a life of love, faith and humility. Those who live in awareness of God will always think twice before committing a sin because their conscience does not allow it. Such people will always attempt to live with moral values because they are constantly trying to live up to God and feel that they are answerable to God. Being humble always teaches us to live with gratitude and these qualities by far help us live happily in peace.

A story that caught my attention was about a building in which construction work was going on. Lots of poor laborers were working there and their small children used to hold onto one another's shirt and play "train-train". Someone would become the engine and others would become bogies or the compartments. Every day these children used to take turns becoming the engine and compartments. There was one small boy wearing only a pair of shorts who used to hold one small green cloth in his hand and become the guard daily.
So he was once asked: “Don't you also wish to become an engine or a compartment some time?”

He softly replied: " Sir, I don't have a shirt to wear so how will the other children hold on to me to make the train?” There was a slight wetness in his eyes.
But it sure gave us all a lesson.... he could have cried and sat at home and complained to his parents for not being able to afford a shirt for him. Instead he accepted his circumstances and chose another way to play and enjoy himself. He was grateful for a piece of green cloth because at least he could participate and play. In life, we don't get all things we desire and we keep complaining.

Life is short, so make the best of it and live right. Focus on loving because hatred does not make us happy. Desires and wants bring nothing but regrets. Accept what you have because contentment brings peace and money cannot buy happiness. Having an ATTITUDE OF GRATITUDE will first help us become happy and then will radiate that positivity in the environment around us.

And remember: LIFE IS SHORT, so use the ATTITUDE OF GRATITUDE to turn what you have into ENOUGH!

Until next time, this is Preet Sahi reminding you to Stay Spiritual!
