EGO: OUR BIGGEST ENEMY - Lamborghini Vs. Ferrari!

Ego has become such a part of our lives that we don’t even realize how it ruins and degrades our sense of wisdom! We keep complaining that life is very difficult and comes with its ups and downs. Yet, we fail to realize that most of our shortcomings are a direct result of our Ego which is constantly being fed by our very own thoughts. Most often we will realize that if we know how to “manage” our Ego, we will make our lives mush easier. Unless and until we learn the art of replacing our EGO with HUMILTY, we are depriving ourselves from the bliss of life: as God had intended it to be. Ego has blinded people into causing damage for their own selves, and they become their own worst enemies.

Ferruccio Lamborghini was a very successful Italian businessman, whose Tractor business achieved great heights. After serving as a mechanic in the Italian Royal Air Force during World War II, Lamborghini went into business building tractors. By the mid-1950s, Lamborghini's tractor company; Lamborghini Trattori, had become one of the largest agricultural equipment manufacturers in the country. He was also the manufacturer of successful gas heaters and air conditioners.

Since he came from a wealthy family, he held a keen interest in luxury automobiles. Since childhood this passion was cultivated and catered to. Apart from the many automobiles that he owned: in 1958, he bought his first Ferrari: a 250GT. To his disappointment, he discovered a problem with the clutch in his brand new car. Being an automobile professional, he realized that the clutch in the Ferrari was made the same way as the clutch in his tractors. Lamborghini tractors and Ferrari sports cars used the same clutch which had some quality issues. Although he liked the car, he thought that the car could benefit a bit if a few minor changes were made. So, with the sole intention of good will, he decided to take his suggestions to the owner of Ferrari cars: Enzo Ferrari. He told him that he liked the Ferrari he had purchased but he had some suggestions on how to make it even better. Enzo looked at him and told him he didn’t need a tractor owner’s advice. Instead of brushing that remark off or backhanding Enzo across the face, Ferruccio decided on a different approach. He was going to build his own top notch performance car company and show Enzo Ferrari just what he was missing out on. The next forty six years is history. Lamborghini took the words as a challenge and went on to design some of the world's fastest and most expensive high-performance sports cars.

If Enzo Ferrari had been a bit less arrogant, the name Lamborghini might still be associated mostly with tractors instead of some of the world's finest sports cars. Ego and Arrogance are like an axe that we use to aim at our own feet. Sometimes, we lose precious opportunities just because we are unwilling to change our own ways. When people point out our mistakes and we feel offended and find it hard to accept our shortcomings, then that is a sign, that we still have a long way to go on the path of maturity. Blessed are those who humbly accept everyone’s view point because those are the people, who will actually grow!

When one is climbing up a mountain, we tend to bend forward to maintain a balance for our body. Likewise, when we are going downhill, we tend to balance our body by pushing it upwards and backwards. In the same manner, it is very important for all of us to remember that in order for us to reach heights; we must bend ourselves and become humble. Eternal Peace comes to those who are willing to bow down. When we hold our head high and up, nature has a tendency to make us go downwards.

We have made EGO a prime aspect which reflects our nature. We have become so proud of our physical strength, mental abilities, material achievements and social statuses, that our minds have become rigid and we forget to induce humility in ourselves. In today’s world, most people say that their goal in life is to achieve Eternal Peace. Little do we realize that lack of humility is the sole reason why we don’t have Eternal Peace. Shedding Ego, is the only resource, that can lead us to Eternal Peace. It is only the humble who continue living on the pedestal of loftiness even after centuries pass.

When we were born, God did not give us any labels. The first label was the name given to us by our parents. The family in which we were born gave us the labels for religion and caste to which we belonged. The nation in which we were born gave us a label for our nationality. Then our education or degree gave us labels for doctors, engineers, chartered accountants etc. In the interim, we developed an attachment to all these labels. These attachments gave us a feeling of either Superiority over others or Inferiority compared to others. And this develops an EGO in the human mind.

WE SHOULD LIVE LIFE LIKE A PAIR OF WALKING LEGS... THE FOOT FORWARD HAS NO PRIDE AND THE FOOT BEHIND HAS NO SHAME.... BECAUSE THEY BOTH KNOW THAT THEIR SITUATION WILL CHANGE.
And always remember:
IT'S BETTER TO LOSE YOUR EGO TO THE ONE YOU LOVE,
THAN TO LOSE THE ONE YOU LOVE BECAUSE OF EGO!!!!
