Spiritual Wisdom – The Gateway to World Peace and Unity

Spiritual Wisdom arises in us when we dedicate our mind and actions to Divinity which is solely due to the grace of Lord Almighty.
In Chapter 7 of the Bhagavad-Gita, Lord Krishna explains to his favourite disciple – Arjuna, the importance of cultivating spiritual wisdom in his life:
“For this, you (Arjuna) will need both knowledge of Divinity (jnana) and wisdom of Divinity (vijnana). I will give these to you.” The difference between them is this: one learns knowledge through senses and mind – that is, through sight and thinking; one gains wisdom through direct grasp, through insight and intuition. Knowledge knows it through an intellectual level; wisdom realizes it fully and is able to apply it in daily living.
The higher mind in which sattva is preeminent, reflects the light of consciousness (cit) more faithfully and produces true spiritual wisdom in a saint’s life. At the level of the intellect, wisdom can be said to augment awareness in us. At the level of feelings, wisdom generates such elated states as universal love, compassion, kindness, patience, tolerance, and other similar virtues. At the level of values, wisdom is responsible for our concern with the ideal of goodness, beauty and harmony. Not least, the presence of wisdom creates in us the urge towards self-understanding, self-discipline, self-transcendence and, self-realization. In other words, the impulse toward freedom and liberation, or enlightenment, becomes manifest in us when wisdom harmonizes the otherwise turbulent mind.
Babaji’s gift to mankind is to bestow God realization, which leads us to Self-realization. Through Bhakti, the spiritual discipline of self-surrender to the Divine, the devotee (Bhakat) develops spiritual wisdom. For before we can practice self-surrender, we must determine the proper object of our devotion. Otherwise we could end up worshipping “false gods” or confuse the self (ego). Our emotions are notoriously unreliable if they are left to their own devices; they require the light of God realization from the True Master. This is the profound ideology of the Nirankari Mission and its message to mankind – “Know Thyself”. Only then can true Bhakti lead us to self – realization, which culminates in spiritual wisdom.
Or, how could we practice Karma-Yoga, the path of self-transcending day-to-day action, without having the wisdom to tell us what course of action is appropriate in any given case? The cultivation of wisdom is clearly a priority on the spiritual path as the God-man Lord Krishna addressed this vital point in the Bhagavad-Gita to end Prince Arjuna’s mental confusion. Spiritual wisdom develops in us distinctive qualities and Divine tendencies that he describes as follows:
“Fearlessness, purity (of heart and emotions), steadfastness (in pursuit of Divinity), charity (alms giving), and control of senses.
“Sacrifice (yajna, the spirit of giving), austerity (tapas, purification, literally to ‘melt’ and recast), straightforwardness (integrity, sincerity), and noninjury (ahimsa, doing no mental, physical, or spiritual harm).”
“Also on the list of godlike traits are: truthfulness, absence of anger, renunciation (turning away from worldly attachments), equanimity and not slandering.”
“Compassion, not coveting (no desire), gentleness, modesty, not fickle, and vigor.”
“Forgiveness, fortitude (courage, endurance, ‘putting up with’, cleanliness, no hatred and no pride).”
“All those, Arjuna are the cardinal virtues and tendencies that reveal the real nature of human beings: their Divinity.”
This is the same message that Babaji is propagating in the world. The future wellbeing of mankind is inextricably tied to man’s acceptance of these perennial truths. Babaji’s mission is dedicated to the renewal of these perennial truths which when adopted and sincerely practiced will lead to the establishment of Universal brotherhood, peace and tolerance on earth.
