International Yoga Day - Yoga Camp - June 23, 2024

Guided by the teachings of Satguru Mata Sudiksha Ji Maharaj, the Centre for Oneness in Toronto hosted a Yoga camp for International Yoga Day on June 23rd, 2024. The camp was organized to promote physical, mental, and spiritual well-being, emphasizing the connection between a healthy body and a spiritually awakened mind. Satguru Mata Ji’s vision - “To cultivate a healthy mind and lead an easy life, we must keep our bodies fit, considering them as priceless gifts from God Almighty,” was the cornerstone of the event.

With approximately 80 saints participating, the yoga camp featured a series of breathing exercises and yoga poses specifically aimed at addressing common health issues, particularly those prevalent in the Western culture. The exercises targeted cervical, cardiovascular, and lower back problems. Special attention was given to neck and cervical health through exercises designed to alleviate and prevent pain in these areas. Additionally, poses were incorporated to strengthen and support the lower back, promoting overall spinal health and well-being. Some of these poses included the Anjaneyasana (Low Lunge Pose), the Vajrasana (Thunderbolt Pose), and the Baddha Konasana (Butterfly Pose).

The routine was designed to be inclusive, catering to saints of all age groups and physical abilities. Special modifications were made for saints who required chair support, ensuring everyone could participate comfortably.

The word "yoga" is derived from the Sanskrit root "yuj," which means "to add," "to join," and "to unite." As the word suggests, this celebration was more than just performing yoga; it was about coming together as a community to embrace the values of peace, unity, and holistic health. On this International Day of Yoga, we united in the spirit of wellness and community by promoting a state of heightened awareness of both physical and spiritual health.
