Humanness Food Drive - April 2020

April 3, 2020- The Sant Nirankari Mission (SNM) Canada (Toronto), donated 13,971 pounds of non-perishable food items to the Regeneration Outreach Community (Knight’s Table, Brampton). The SNM wanted to help people in need, especially in these challenging unprecedented times with COVID-19. Knight’s Table is a platform that serves and empowers vulnerable members of our community by providing food and access to resources in a safe environment through volunteerism.

With the COVID-19 Virus and the associated Self Isolation and Social Distance of our respective communities, people are having more challenges with businesses closing and are under lockdowns.However, there is still need for food and necessities for families every day.

These food items were collected as a part of Humanness Food Drive, during the months of February and March by the members of the SNM Toronto Congregation. This drive was held to commemorate and pay tribute to the teachings of Baba Hardev Singh Ji Maharaj, who spent his life dedicated to the service and well-being of mankind. Inspired by his pious life, the volunteers of the Sant Nirankari Mission, dedicated their time and effort to raise money and awareness for the food drive. The volunteers bought, sorted, and packed the food items for donation.

Jenna Dewsbury, Director of Operations, Regeneration Outreach Community (Knight’s Table Brampton) said, “Thank you so much for your very generous donation to Regeneration. Every year, around this time our supply starts to dwindle, so it is always necessary. However, this year more than ever it was needed as we are feeding more people than ever before, and we are preparing for that number to grow over the next month and beyond. The total donation weighed 13,791lbs!! We appreciate your support and the hard work that went into making it happen!!!”

The Sant Nirankari Mission is a Humanitarian and Spiritual Organization which believes in the unity of all people through spiritual awakening and realization.The realization and unity of people brings about Human Values of Love, Compassion, Forgiveness, and Selfless Service naturally which enables a Peaceful Coexistence in society.
