SNM, Seattle and Interfaith Dialogue on Human Values

On January 11th, 2014, Seattle Sangat was blessed with the opportunity to host Spiritual Congregation in the presence of Dr. Iqbaljit Rai, President, Sant Nirankari Mission, USA. Congregation was held under slogan 'Universal Brotherhood' and the theme of 'human values' where we invited Interfaith Community, Seattle Chapter. Spiritual Guides from different faiths including First People (Native Americans), Hinduism (Vedic Cultural Centre of Seattle), Jewish, Christianity and Islam enriched us with their presence and participation at the event.

Booklets with mission's ideology, services for the day, and meaning behind Nirankari Greetings were presented to the audiences. Members of Seattle Sangat presented the teachings of the mission towards tolerance, compassion, empathy and love. The underlying thread was that depleting human values need to be replenished for a peaceful co-existence. Young saints presented a skit propagating the message of selfless service and having no expectation of returns. The audience appreciated the mission for involvement of the kids and preaching the right way of living from an early age. A small documentary was also played for introducing the mission and the social activities being undertaken all over the world by its members.

Guests from the interfaith church also shared their thoughts on human values. Rev. Jamal Rahman from Interfaith shared quotes and stories from Quran about humanity. From other speakers, there were messages of human responsibility towards preserving Mother Nature, importance of human relationships over material wealth, etc. The representative from VCC appreciated the sense of selfless service with which members of the mission participated in their events over the last few years at Seattle.

Dr. Rai while presiding from stage stressed on the importance of God Realization in human life. He talked about Universal Brotherhood coming with the realization of one Supreme Father. He captured the attention of a diversified audience by quoting Quran, Albert Einstein, Swami Vivekananda, Bible etc. while explaining the ideology and basic principles of the mission being founded on the pillars of human values. After serving of Community meal, the attendees enjoyed the exhibition set up by Seattle Sangat.
