This year Manav Ekta Diwas, also known as Human Unity Day, was observed over a period of 2 days. On April 20, there was a community Blood Drive organized at the Phoenix Satsang Bhawan and on April 21, the devotees shared their thoughts and remembered the life of Baba Gurbachan Singh ji Maharaj and Chacha Pratap singh ji along with other devotees who sacrificed their life while spreading the message of Truth.

Members of the Sant Nirankari Mission and the community started gathering around 830AM on Saturday, April 20 on the premesis of the Phoenix Satsang Bhawan. Their aim - to donate blood or to serve the people coming to donate blood and to encourage and support everyone for this noble cause. The blood drive was organized through Vitalant, formerly known as United Blood Service, who sent a mobile bus where donor took the questionaire to qualify for the blood donation and later laid on the beds to donate blood. There were several members of the Church of Jessu Christ of Latter Day Saints who participated in this event along with other community members. The enthusiasm of the everyone was noteworthy.

On Sunday, April 21, a regular congregation was held at the Phoenix Satsang Bhawan where saints shared their thoughts on the life and teachings of Satguru Baba Gurbachan Singh ji Maharaj. Talking about Chacha Pratap Singh ji, they shared how by surrendering to the holy feet of the Satguru one can serve not only the Satguru but the community.

This was followed by discourses from His Holiness Baba Hardev Sngh ji and Her Holiness Mata Sudiksha Savinder Hardev Singh ji.

In his discourse, Baba Hardev Singh ji said:

To establish Manav Ekta (Human Unity) many sacrificed with their life. Contributions have been made throughout mankind to instill human unity in the minds of humans. The saints inspired everyone to follow this path of truth and improve their life. Those who didn’t understand this message of truth stayed in darkness. They even tried to stray the holy saints from their path. But saints inspired to love everyone. In this age, Baba Gurbachan Singh ji spent 17 years not only in India but throughout the world and made several efforts to take mankind to new heights. In western countries he established the Satsang Bhawan and spread Mission’s words. The message of truth should be spread everywhere.
Baba Gurbachan Singh ji took responsibility of the Sant Nirankar Mission in 1963. He organized the first Mussoorie conference in 1965 and then during 1973 conference laid out many principles and policies on how to minimize expenses on marriages, how to refrain from intoxication, how to keep track of Mission’s financial accounts. He established direction for Sewa dal, administrators, and people who go on prachar tours and today we can see how we are following those directions.
Despite hardships, he didn’t slow down and never stopped going to sangat despite physical hardships on body. Just like in old ages many saints and sages used to sacrifice their life for spreading this truth, similarly Baba Gurbachan Singh ji sacrificed his life to spread the message of truth.
Saints always ask for betterment of everyone. Mission never left the path of its leaders and followed their teachings to be tolerant and not have hatred towards anyone. Saints are like a sandalwood tree who never leaves it characteristic of giving fragrance. Sun never ceases to give energy through sunlight. So saints keep contributing to spread the message of truth.
There are many humans but few with human values. Humanity is the true religion. Saints want humans should have humanity and humans should lead this life living by human values. Some people want to spread hatred on the name of religion. They are intolerant and create doubts in peoples mind. When there is no human left, how can there be any unity.
Outside India, Mission is known as Universal Brotherhood Mission. That includes everyone in the world and is not limited to any region or religion or any other form of differentiation. We have to understand this only then this world will be a beautiful place. We have to look into ourselves before we ask others to change. If we want others to give importance to Mission, we first have to ask if we are we giving it importance? If we are talking to other about leaving intoxication, we have to ask ourselves if we are intoxicated or not. We need to rise above our material attachments and petty thoughts to take the Mission further for which Baba Gurbachan Singh ji sacrificed and other saints sacrificed their life.
When Baba Gurbachan Singh ji was murdered, everyone wanted to take revenge. Baba Hardev Singh ji said we should take the revenge by putting even more efforts in spreading the message of Baba Gurbachan Singh ji. That will be the true revenge. Saints don’t bring down anyone to show themselves as important, but they raise their own qualities. We are people of love, humility & tolerance. We are doing blood donation not only throughout India but all over the world. Selfless sacrifice and desire to serve humanity is filled in saints heart. Blood should flow in veins and not drains.

In her discourse, Mata Sudiksha Sawinder Hardev ji said:

Everyone is sitting in a disciplined way and quietly listening to saints on stage as they talk about this Nirankar. Saints talk about the Creator and its creation. Everyone has his light. This time is given to us during this life, we should know where we came from and where we have to go. Since ages the message is same but it takes different form.
Mata ji talked about knowledge and action. When we see two people who are talking about same thing but one person acts according to what they talk and another person has totally different actions than what they are talking, we know we will have more respect for the person whose actions are same as what they are saying.
What type of devotion we need to do? Is it just to come to sangat, or shall we implement the teachings into our life and actions? Devotion is the first step towards salvation. Lord made us in this form of human, so we have to think if we are being a gurmukh (one who follow’s teachings of Satguru) or a manmukh (one who does things without regard to Satguru teachings).
Since ages message of saints is how to keep our mind pure and spread this fragrance to everyone. We have to think if we are the ones who bring discomfort to others or give comfort to others. We have the understanding in us but have to awaken it. We have to introspect.
We have heard thoughts about universal brotherhood, harmony in oneness, broadmindedness, kindness etc. But at same time we talk about God knowledge and if we are able to see God everywhere and in everyone. Life is so precious and temporary. We need to focus on this one Nirankar and steadfast God.
What is the difference in today and earlier times. In earlier times people used to obey a saints words, but today we are not even willing to listen to anyone. People in Mission offer food to other first, they do Dhan Nirankar on feet to show they surrender to Nirankar and see Nirankar in everyone.
Whatever the circumstance is given by this Nirankar, he is complete so all his work is complete. His doing is never wrong. We have narrow vision, we have shortcomings so our thoughts can be narrow minded. One person can be thankful and other can be complaining on the same situation. A saint thinks the situation can always be worse so they are always thankful and have an attitude of gratitude. No one is bad, everyone is beautiful in their own way.
We should remember and see God in everyone and everywhere.
