A lotus lives in murky water yet it retains its purity
To be unaffected by intolerance or hate is our duty
A lotus lives on this earth and reaches for the sky
Likewise we must live in the world truthfully, on a spiritual high

Like the lotus in mud still beautiful, still pure white
To be of this world our soul untouched, is just right
We cannot see ahead but must listen to our heart
Once on the wrong path make amends, don't depart

Lotus is the child of the universe, likeness of its mother
We are all our father’s, Gods children, sisters and brothers
The lotus submerges at night and rises anew at dawn
We must cleanse our soul, with pure thoughts renew

A lotus lives in murky water yet it retains its purity

Its fragrance touches hearts, it rejuvenates swiftly
Lord make me like the lotus in purity, beauty & simplicity
