Greed

Sunaina Kamal, 31.07.05

Greed is such an excessive desire to acquire or possess more, especially more material wealth, than one needs or deserves.

Everyday Nirankar gives us everything we need; air to breathe, food to eat, shelter to accommodate, wealth and loved ones.
Though still we are too selfish to reflect, to be grateful, or to even thank Him.

I think to myself why are we so ungrateful? I realise we lack appreciation and we take things for granted. We always want want want. So I then question myself: When will we appreciate what we have been given?

I believe that only once we receive this Spiritual Wisdom and follow it within our daily lives, only then can we become content and realise how fortunate we are.

Mahatma Gandhi once said: "There is enough for everyone's needs, but not for everyone's greed". In our life we should be grateful and thank the Lord Almighty for what He has bestowed upon us. By appreciating everything we have, only then can we achieve a life without greed. There are many ways in which we can thank Him and feel content, some of which include; doing the Sirman (prayer), attending Satsang (congregation) and doing Sewa (selfless service).

When I look within myself, I realise how Nirankar has blessed me, not only has He given me a loving family, He guides me through right and wrong.

I pray that we can continue to be grateful for what Nirankar has given to us and avoid getting caught up in the things that distract us from his appreciation.
