Rev. Bhaiya Gobind Singh Ji – President, SNM Leaves His Physical Form to Merge in Nirankar

The Sant Nirankari Mandal informs with deep regret and sorrow that our beloved dedicated tireless saint Rev. Bhaiya Gobind Singh Ji, President Sant Nirankari Mandal left his physical form to merge with Nirankar on 24th April, 2021 at 3.20 am in Jalandhar (Punjab) after leading an exemplary life of his strong and devout faith in Nirankar and his Satguru. Incidentally, he left his physical form on Manav Ekta Diwas and shall always be remembered on this day.

In a significant decision Satguru Mata Savinder Hardev Ji Maharaj blessed Rev. Gobind Singh Ji the responsibility of being the President of the Sant Nirankari Mandal and Sant Nirankari Charitable Foundation on February 15th, 2018.

Rev. Gobind Singh Ji was the founder Chairman of Central Planning and Advisory Board of the Sant Nirankari Mandal constituted w.e.f. May 1, 2009. The Board replaced the All-India Working Committee dissolved in November, 2008.

Rev. Gobind Singh Ji was born on 20th July, 1935 in Village Hasil, Tehsil Chackwal, District Jhelum (now in Pakistan) in the family of Shri Gurditta Mal and Smt. Shanti Devi. The parents belonged to a middle class family, who had faith in great Gurus and Sikh traditions. They had three sons Rev. Madan Singh ‘Alagh’ ji who was also a Member of the Executive Committee of the Sant Nirankari Mandal; Rev. Ajit Singh ji and Rev. Gobind Singh Ji. They had two daughters – Smt. Shakuntala and Smt. Satinder Kaur, both of them now deceased.

Shri Gurditta Mal who had been blessed with Brahm Gyan by Baba Buta Singh Ji, the founder of the Sant Nirankari Mission, specially requested Shahenshah Baba Avtar Singh Ji to enlighten his sons Madan Singh ‘Alagh’ and Gobind Singh with Brahm Gyan. Notwithstanding their age, Shahenshah Ji blessed them with spiritual knowledge in March 1944 at Peshawar (now in Pakistan). After partition the family migrated from Rawalpindi (Pakistan) to India and settled in Karol Bagh, Delhi as per the direction of Shahenshah Baba Avtar Singh Ji.

Rev. Gobind Singh Ji joined ‘Nirankari Motors’, Kashmiri Gate, Delhi in 1950 and served there for four years. In 1954, as desired by (Baba) Gurbachan Singh Ji and Bau Mahadev Singh Ji, he shifted to ‘Nirankari Motors’ at Jalandhar (Punjab). Rev. Gobind Singh Ji was known for his honesty and sincerity due to which he was made a partner in the firm 1958 (after his marriage).

Shahenshah Baba Avtar Singh Ji and Rev Jagatmata Budhwanti Ji married there younger daughter Charanjit Kaur ji with Rev. Gobind Singh Ji. They had two sons and one daughter all are married and leading a Gursikh life. Rev. Gobind Singh ji’s wife Rev. Charanjit Kaur ji left for her eternal abode on 22nd January, 2009 in Mumbai, Maharashtra.

Rev. Gobind Singh Ji was blessed with the authority to award Brahm Gyan in 1964 by Satguru Baba Gurbachan Singh Ji. While staying at Jalandhar, Rev. Gobind Singh Ji was deeply involved in the activities of the Mission there. In 1978, Rev. Gobind Singh Ji and his family faced lots of hardship along with other leading devotees of the Mission. He was detained by the Punjab Police on 14th April, 1978 due to a mishap which was created by some miscreants at a Satsang programme on 13th April, 1978 in Amritsar. The Samagam was being held under the Divine presence of Satguru Baba Gurubachan Singh Ji Maharaj and Rev. Rajmata Ji. He was acquitted in January, 1980.

In 1979, Satguru Baba Gurbachan Singh Ji Maharaj constituted the All-India Working Committee of the Mandal with 51 Members. Rev. Gobind Singh Ji (still in police custody) was nominated as its founder Chairman. He, however, came to Delhi and took charge of this Sewa on release from police custody in 1980. He continued to perform this Sewa upto 1987. In the Special General Body Meeting held in March 1987, Rev Gobind Singh Ji was nominated as the General Secretary of the Sant Nirankari Mandal by His Holiness Satguru Baba Hardev Singh Ji Maharaj. He held this responsibility till April 30, 2009. Rev. Gobind Singh Ji was also nominated as ‘Chairman’ of the Samagam Committee for the Annual Nirankari Sant Samagams every year.

As General Secretary of the Mandal Rev. Gobind Singh Ji was given responsibility of various departments from time to time which he looked after with an utmost sense of devotion and dedication. Even though all the other members of his family including his esteemed spouse Rev. Charanjit Kaur Ji lived in Jalandhar, he made himself available at the Headquarters of the Mandal in Delhi all the time. The various departments assigned to him by His Holiness from time to time include: Land and Building, Establishment, General Administration, Coordination, Administration of Branches, Langar and Relief to Martyrs’ Families in Punjab.

The last rites were performed on April 24th, 2021 at 04:00 pm Jalandhar, Punjab. The Prerna Diwas Satsang was held virtually on April 25th, 2021 in the Divine presence of Satguru Mata Sudiksha Ji Maharaj. Amongst various speakers who conveyed there heartfelt condolences were Rev. Ramit Chandna Ji, the esteemed spouse of Satguru Mata Ji, Members of the Executive Committee, Central Planning and Advisory Board, family and various saints from all over the globe. This Satsang was attended by thousands of devotees and people close to him. His life will keep inspiring generations to come.
