In continuation of Sant Nirankari Mission’s Cleanliness and Tree Plantation Drive held all over India on the occasion of Baba Hardev Singh Ji’s 59th birthday on February 23, 2013, the Mission’s branch at Bemloe in Shimla (Himachal Pradesh) organized Sewa Dal Rally on February 24, where the volunteers exhibited the feelings of selfless service through P.T. parade and various sports activities.

The Rally was supervised by Rev Rajwant Kaur Ji, Zonal Incharge. Devotees from various places came to attend this event. The activities of children and games like tug of war and plays like ‘Importance of Samagam’ were the major attraction of this event.

Rev Rajwant Kaur Ji while addressing the Sewa Dal volunteers exhorted them to continue the selfless service for the betterment of humankind. She said that although the True Master is beyond birth but since ancient times, devotees celebrate their happiness on the birthday of their Master, through whom they receive the precious knowledge of God. The True Master liberates the soul from the bondages of transmigration and makes life happy here and hereafter. From time-to-time, the True Master descends to propagate Truth and link people with Truth.

On this event, Sewa Dal Sanchalak, Shri Ashwani Verma, shared how Sewa Dal was formed and prayed to Baba Ji so that everybody could serve humankind with more enthusiasm, discipline and humility.

Like every year, Nirankari Cricket Board, Ludhiana commenced 14th Baba Gurbachan Singh Ji Memorial cricket tournament on Sunday, 3rd March 2013. The tournament was inaugurated by the Zonal Incharge, Ludhiana, Rev H.S Chawla Ji in the open grounds of Sant Nirankari Mandal Baddowal. Rev Chawla Ji blessed the saints and said that in the game of cricket, every player does his role. There is a batsman, a bolwer and a fielder. But all of them focus on one thing - ball. If one loses focus on the ball, it leads to defeat in the game. Similarly, in our lives also there is one point of focus - Nirankar.

On behalf of the Nirankari Cricket Board Ludhiana, Rev Sukhdayal Singh Ji said that this cricket tournament is held every year in the memory of Baba Gurbachan Singh Ji and all other saints who sacrificed their lives. Ten teams are participating in this tournament.

The Sant Nirankari Mission’s branches in Italy celebrated Guru Puja Diwas with great enthusiasm. It also happened to be the 59th Birthday of His Holiness Baba Hardev Singh Ji Maharaj. Rev H.S. Upasak Ji came from UK specially to take part in celebrations.

The first programme was held on February 22, 2013 in Terni near the country’s capital, Rome. Besides local devotees of the Mission, several representatives of other social and religious organization participated. Addressing the gathering, Rev Upasak Ji explained the significance of Guru Puja Diwas and said to act upon the teachings of Satguru (True Master) is the real Guru Puja or devotion to the True Master.

On February 23, a Sant Samagam was organized in a big hall in Arresso jointly by local religious organization. Here also Rev Upasak Ji explained the real essence of religion and emphasized the role of the True Master.

On February 24, a Sewa Dal Rally was organized in Mantova which was followed by a congregation. Addressed by Rev Upasak Ji, the congregation was attended by several representatives of the local religious and social organizations.

Guru Puja Diwas celebrated in Calgary

The Calgary Branch of the Sant Nirankari Mission in Canada celebrated Guru Puja Diwas with much excitement and enthusiasm with activities spanning over two days. The main congregation was held on February 23, with a Sewa Dal rally organized on February 24. The main congregation was highlighted by devotional songs performed by the youth as well as a video documentary created for His Holiness by the Bal Sangat. The Mission also marks this occasion (the birthday of His Holiness) by making a positive contribution in the community.

Community Contribution
On this occasion, the Calgary branch participated in the Mission’s national food collection drive and donated much needed non-perishable food items to the local food bank. Ms. Julie Brewster, Development Coordinator, from the Calgary Food Bank attended the congregation and recognized the Mission for our donation. She was very appreciative of the Mission’s positive contribution to the community and the partnership that we have developed with the Calgary Food Bank. This year, with the blessings of His Holiness and the generosity of the congregation, the branch was able to donate 3000 pounds of food (as compared to 900 pounds in 2012).

Sewa Dal Rally
A Sewa Dal rally was organized on February 24. All of the local Sewa Dal participated in this rally to show their gratitude to His Holiness for blessing them with the opportunity to serve the Mission and humanity at large. The rally started with the Sewa Dal prayer followed by physical training exercises. Rev Surjit Virk Ji, while presiding over the Sewa Dal Rally, praised the Sewa Dal for their dedication and enthusiasm in carrying out their duties throughout the year. He also highlighted the virtues that Sewa Dal members must adopt to fulfil their responsibilities and lead a blissful life.

February 24: Tree Plantation in Hitchin in UK

Tree Plantation in Hitchin in UK

February 24, 2013: The festival of Guru Puja Diwas was recently marked in Hitchin in UK with a tree planting and street cleaning programme, in association with North Herts District Council. The devotees of the Hitchin Sangat turned out in force to clean up the area around their Satsang Hall at Westmill Community Centre.

Approximately 30 members participated in the litter picking and tree planting event in the gardens of the Westmill Community Centre improving the general environment and assisting in beautifying the area.

The Hitchin congregation has been using Westmill Community Centre as their Satsang Hall for more than 35 years. They have become the longest regular users in the history of the Community Centre and are well respected and valued members of the Community.

This event was followed by PT parade, a prayer song and Preeti Bhoj provided by the Sangat.
