Consultative Status for NGOs With The United Nations

Consultative Status for NGOs With The United Nations

As mentioned earlier, in recognition of the large scale socio-charitable activities, the Sant Nirankari Mandal was granted the Special Consultative Status with the UN in 2012. This enabled the Mandal to actively engage with ECOSOC and its subsidiary bodies, as well as with United Nations Secretariat programmes, funds and agencies in a number of ways. Now the UN is considering the Mandal’s request for its graduation to General Consultative Status with the UN for carrying higher responsibilities.

While UN has acknowledged that our ongoing contributions to achieve United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and our Consultative Status with ECOSOC is in good standing, they sought our help in pursuing other organizations to apply for consultative status. Accordingly, we posted the following announcement on this Website (www.nirankari.org) on April 26, 2018:

“NGOs interested in applying for ECOSOC consultative status should submit their applications and required documents on or before the deadline of 1 June 2018. The following link provides background information, the benefits of consultative status and instructions for how to apply: https://bit.ly/2ozYpVw”

Now all interested NGOs are gently reminded to apply as early as possible as the deadline (June 1, 2018) is fast approaching. A communication from the UN says:

“Open call for NGOs to apply for Consultative Status with the United Nations (Deadline: 1 June 2018). NGOs interested in applying for ECOSOC consultative status should submit their application and required documents on or before the deadline 1 June 2018. The following link provides background information, the benefits and instructions how to apply: https://bit.ly/2ozYpVw”

All NGOs working for public welfare in one way or another may please take this opportunity to apply for Consultative Status with the UN to work at the international level.
