U.N. Grants General Consultative Status to Sant Nirankari Mandal

Sant Nirankari Mission is an all-embracing world-wide religious, socio-spiritual and charitable organisation which preaches the concept of One Formless God (Nirankar) and believes that God can be realised only through the grace of the living Satguru (True Master). As pronounced by the acknowledged scriptures and prophets down the ages, the Mission endorses and accomplishes the established age old truth that realisation of Fatherhood of God is the primary aim of life and its spontaneous by-product is the cherished achievement of human brotherhood which paves the way to universal peace and prosperity.

The Mission has two arms — Sant Nirankari Mandal an organisational setup of the Mission spreading spiritual awakening globally and Sant Nirankari Charitable Foundation to implement the message of Nirankari Baba Hardev Singh Ji Maharaj, "Life gets a meaning, if it is lived for others."

The wide range distinguished socio-spiritual and charitable activities of the Mission led to the grant of 'Special Consultative Status' by United Nations in 2012. It was a prospective handshake between the Sant Nirankari Mandal and U.N. to participate intimately in their work, in particular ECOSOC and its subsidiaries, to achieve 'Sustainable Development Goals' for uplift of the world community.

Besides sending written statements on the given topics, delegates of the Mission have been participating in the U.N. Conferences from time to time, holding aloft the banner, "Equality Through Spirituality". In the matter of multiple inequalities in the world, the Mission holds the firm opinion that every kind of inequality, including socio-economic and gender, can better be sorted out through spirituality. Appreciating Mission's view point, U.N. said, "Thank you so much for your comments, we are sure you are raising very important points. We need to keep comments coming".

With the increasing contribution over the past five years, in the activities of ECOSOC and its subsidiaries in U.N., the Sant Nirankari Mandal has been reclassified from Special to General Consultative Status with effect from 1 August 2018. This upgradation to General Status was conveyed by U.N. with congratulations to the Mandal. It gives us opportunity to cover most of the issues on the agenda of ECOSOC and its subsidiary bodies in U.N. These tend to be fairly large established international NGOs with a broad geographical reach.

With apt background, the announcement of the General Consultative Status by U.N. was made on 15 August 2018 during the Mukti Parv Samagam in Delhi. May Satguru Mata Sudiksha Ji bless us with strength enough to cope with the added responsibility successfully.

- C.L. Gulati, Secretary, Sant Nirankari Mandal
