8th Human Unity Indoor Cricket Tournament Hosted

The Sant Nirankari Mission Leicester hosted the eighth Human Unity Indoor Cricket Tournament on Saturday, 6th April, 2019 in which sixteen teams from West London, East London, West Midlands, Leicester, Yorkshire and visiting teams from Coventry and the British Army’s Adjutant General’s Corps Cricket Club (AGC CC) played for the Human Unity Cup.

The event coincides with the Sant Nirankari Mission’s annual April celebration of Human Unity in memory of Baba Gurbachan Singh Ji, promoting teamwork and community cohesion.

SNM Leicester Local Committee Member Respected Harjinder Singh Matharu Ji, Social and Welfare Activities In-charge, welcomed the participating teams and the guests declaring the tournament open.

A thoroughly fun filled day was enjoyed by the teams, and their family and friends enjoying face painting, therapeutic massages, specialist advice from dieticians, with hot and cold drinks, snacks and delicious delicacies enjoyed whilst cheering on the matches. Many spectators and participants conveyed their gratitude and appreciation of how wonderful and well managed the whole event was, with anticipation for other forthcoming events arranged and hosted by the Sant Nirankari Mission.

Whilst all teams managed exceptionally high scores, leaders were the West Midlands team (Winners in April 2018) and Leicester team (Winners in 2017) who yet again faced each other in the finals.

For the second time, the West Midlands claimed the Human Unity Cup and an additional award for ‘Fair Play’ and promoting true sportsman spirit with respect for team members.

The trophies were handed over by the Local Committee and National SNM UK Sewadal Incharges. Respected Gurpreet Bhatia Ji - SNM UK Executive Member – Social and Welfare, closed the event by expressing how thrilled he was to see the spirit of the players did justice to the name – Human Unity Cup. It is hoped that such events will continue to unite people of all backgrounds and abilities together to take the message of Oneness even further in a practical way through sport.
