Blood Donation Camp in Toronto: October 03, 2009

Blood Donation Camp, Canada, Toronto

In keeping with the festive thanksgiving season, the Sant Nirankari Mission Toronto participated in a blood donation camp on October 3, 2009. It has been over a decade that the Canadian Blood Services along with Sant Nirankari Mission have been holding blood donation camps annually. With His Holiness Baba Hardev Singh Ji's blessings, this is the first time that two camps were held in one year. Members of the Toronto branch came out in large numbers with their families to donate blood and give moral support to all. The camp was held in a mall where the Mission’s volunteers assisted CBS in the entire process of organizing for the camp.

Many people found the thanksgiving holiday the perfect time to give back to the community. During this time, many gather with their families and reflect upon all that they have to be thankful about. While feasting with their families, people also donate food for the needy. During thanksgiving Sant Nirankari Mission wanted to donate blood to those in need. The shortage is mounting and donors are becoming rare. One youth was so happy to see her dad give blood, because every year her dad gets rejected due his health. This year she was cheering because finally he was able to participate. Many women in the congregation have started taking vitamins to ensure they are healthy enough to get accepted by CBS. Sant Nirankari Mission is the largest donor across India.

Those that donate blood have always shared the view of the Mission that blood should flow in veins and not in drains. The world is always looking for a way to take from one another. Today the Mission is displaying how to give to each other in an unconditional way. Moving forward, blood donation camps in Toronto will be held more than once a year to increase donations and save more lives.
