Sant Nirankari Charitable Foundation Organizes Run for Oneness in Delhi

The Sant Nirankari Charitable Foundation organized a peace walk – Run for Oneness in Delhi on Sunday, October 26, 2014. Starting from National Stadium near India Gate about 20,000 men and women aged 16 years and above went up to Connaught Place and returned to Stadium after covering a distance of about 9 kms. While Pujya Mata Sawinder Ji, gracious spouse of His Holiness Baba Hardev Singh Ji Maharaj was one of the leading participants, many young boys and girls came from outside Delhi also.

All the participants, most of them youngsters, donned a white T-shirt and a blue cap marked Run for Oneness. The object of the Run was to promote peaceful coexistence of the mankind despite all kinds of diversities based on religion, caste, creed and colour, language, region and culture. The participants also carried placards with messages of tolerance, humanity, peace etc. They also touched the subjects like cleanliness saying; 'Don't litter - it makes word bitter'; 'When we refuse to reuse, it is our earth we abuse'.

The Run was flagged off by His Holiness Baba Hardev Singh Ji Maharaj. The flag was formally carried to him by Sunita Godara, the well-known Asian Marathon Champion honoured with Arjuna Award and the record holder of running the maximum marathons by an Indian.

Blessing the participants, His Holiness said; "Saints have always cherished oneness of the mankind. Along with universal brotherhood they have also endevoured for the unity and integrity of the country. Last year the Sant Nirankari Charitable Foundation organized Run for Oneness in Baroda, Gujarat. There also devotees, particularly the youth, showed tremendous enthusiasm for the event. This is because they want love, peace and harmony to prevail everywhere. They want that every human being should work for the welfare of the other. Today also you have assembled with the same noble objective.

We are going to have the 67th Annual Nirankari Sant Samagam in Delhi on November 15, 16 and 17, 2014. There too our focus will be on Harmony in Oneness. Today you are taking this message of oneness on the roads of Delhi, even though covering only a small part of the Capital. The message is, however, not only for the citizens of Delhi or the country but every human being living in the world. No country can compare India in diversity. But we treat it as a sign of beauty bestowed by nature. Oneness can prevail despite all kinds of diversities. That is the only way to touch heights of life and turn this earth into a heaven."

Earlier, the Chief Guest on the occasion, the Honorable Union Home Minister Shri Rajnath Singh said that 65 per cent of India's population is under 35 years of age and no other country can compare with us for having the youth as an asset. He said that he was impressed with the participation of a large number of youth in this Run for Oneness. No political party could organize such a huge rally even after spending crores of rupees. But here it has been possible because of the spiritual inspiration being provided by His Holiness Baba Hardev Singh Ji Maharaj.

The Honorable Minister recalled the supreme sacrifice made by Baba Gurbachan Singh Ji and said that whenever the country was overtaken by the negative tendencies of discrimination, hatred and violence, it was only the forces of religion, culture and spirituality that salvaged it and established an atmosphere of love, service and sacrifice.

The Hon’ble Minister said that history reveals that whenever the world needed love and unity, the message went from the sacred land of India. Today Baba Hardev Singh Ji Maharaj also wants that India should become an example of greatness for the world and find prosperity through spiritual awakening and science as well. Shri Rajnath Singh congratulated the participants and called upon them to take Baba Ji’s message of love and unity to every nook and corner of the world.

Shri Rajnath Singh called Run for the Oneness a prelude to the Run for Unity planned on the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel on October 31. He called upon the youth to work for spreading the message of peace and harmony being preached by Baba Hardev Singh Ji Maharaj.

As the Run for Oneness concluded, His Holiness gave away certificates to the leading participants even though the Run for Oneness was not a competitive event. Blessing the participants, he said that it was a matter of delight that even some physically looking weak were able to complete the walk. The same enthusiasm is being seen in the spiritual field. Many saints are spreading the message of Truth despite various disabilities. The Mission’s message of Oneness, he said, is universal because it is based on Universal Truth i.e. One Formless God who is also the Supreme Source of divine virtues or human values. He congratulated the young boys and girls in particular and said that it will go a long way to beautify their lives with human values.

Before the Run was flagged off, the program featured a song on the theme of oneness, a dance by children on the song 'we are one family', an aerobic presentation on the jingle of 'run for oneness', pledge of oneness and National Anthem.
