Regional-level Nirankari Sant Samagam, North-East States, Odisha and West Bengal, Siliguri: March 24-25, 2018

Siliguri: March 24-25, 2018

After a long gap of 12 years, Siliguri got the privilege of hosting the Regional Nirankari Sant Samagam of West Bengal, Odisha and North Eastern States on March 24-25, 2018. The venue was a vast ground in Kawakhali, Nauka Ghat near North Bengal Medical College.

The Samagam was attended by thousands of devotees of the Sant Nirankari Mission from West Bengal, Odisha, Assam, Sikkim, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh as also from Bihar and some other parts of the country. A large number of delegates came from Nepal and Bangladesh also. The Samagam became a mirror on the languages, traditional costumes, art and culture of these States. The Nepalese colour remained a special attraction.

On March 24, the Samagam began with the arrival of Satguru Mata Savinder Hardev Ji Maharaj at the venue. After a warm welcome by members of the organizing committee and office-bearers from Delhi, Her Holiness released balloons, a symbol of spiritual heights and ecstasy, and took the holy seat on a flower bedecked open vehicle. BSF band, dancing and singing devotees in their traditional attire from Nepal and Northn Eastern Region, Zonal Incharges and other saints associated with Prachar and Prabandh of the Mission and thousands of devotees led Her Holiness in a colourful procession from the main gate to the dais in the Satsang Pandal.

Immediately after the procession, there was an open session. Various speakers discussed the theme of the Samagam - Nirankar, Sehaj, Jeevan Ka Adhar i.e. it is essential to make God the basis to make life balanced and blissful, and various other aspects of the Mission’s ideology. With the use of different languages such as Bengali, Oriya, Assamese, Hindi, Punjabi, English, Bhojpuri and Nepali, the Session presented a beautiful example of unity in diversity. They proved that the single thread of God-knowledge can knit the whole mankind into a single community, a global family.

Addressing the huge gathering, Her Holiness Satguru Mata Ji said:

“Saints, you are enjoying the Satsang programme at the Samagam of North Eastern region. The whole atmosphere is filled with devotion and such an atmosphere is established when you have realized God. In the world today nobody has even five minutes to halt and talk to someone with a smile. Everybody is occupied with his own problems or business. This is because everybody is selfish. They are so overwhelmed by ego that everybody wants to do everything for self only.

Saints, when we are sick, we go to a doctor and he prescribes several kinds of tests in order to know the root cause of the disease. Similarly, if we think carefully, we will find that the root cause of this ego is that man is distancing himself from God and becoming closer and closer to ego. No doubt, we do pray to God and worship Gurus and prophets but as Baba Ji used to say, we have to follow what they say. We have to adopt their teachings in our practical life.

Saints, knowledge is not just knowing but living. The God-knowledge that we have received is not just for our information. We have to move forward in life while following the teachings of the Mission which Baba Ji taught us striving day and night for 36 years.

Saints, once a Mahapurusha said in a congregation that he was on a Prachar tour. When he started persuading the audience to receive God-knowledge, somebody said – If it is the same knowledge that a shopkeeper in our village has received, we shall also certainly take it. The Mahapurusha asked him what was that knowledge. That person said – That shopkeeper was always quarrelling with people and he was not honest in his business either. By chance he remained away from the village and when he returned he was completely a changed man. He began to talk to everybody with love and apologized from those with whom he had misbehaved earlier.

Saints, such a change takes place in one’s life only after receiving God-knowledge and we shall also bring this change in our own life. Once we strengthen our feeling of devotion, our life will become prosperous and beautiful and make this world beautiful for every human being.

Saints, we find some trees along roadside. They look beautiful. They have beautiful leaves and fragrant flowers. No doubt, they add to the beauty of the road but before that they attain beauty themselves. People praise them for their beauty. May God bless every devotee with beauty and fragrance like flowers so that they can bring the same beauty and fragrance in every human being in the world.”

On second day i.e. Sunday, March 25, 2018, the Samagam began with Sewadal Rally. A large number of Sewadal men and women from across the Region participated. Satguru Mata Ji inspected the rally and then unfurled the white flag, a symbol of love, peace and cooperation.

After some PT exercises, Sewadal presented some games, Yoga exercises and physical formations emphasizing the need of not only good health, but discipline, dedication and cooperation also.

Blessing the Rally, Her Holiness said:

“Saints, you have enjoyed a beautiful rally presented by Sewadal. Whatever items were shown by the young and the kinds as also the women members of Sewadal, they gave priority to the Mission’s teachings and laid the emphasis on the aspect of Sewa. This aspect of Sewa has a great importance along with Satsang and Sumiran in the life of devotees. May God bless you all to continue to do Sewa with a spirit of discipline in future also.”

After the Sewadal Rally, addressing the huge gathering, Satguru Mata Savinder Hardev Ji Maharaj said:

“Saints, you are singing the praise of God on the second day of this Samagam. As a matter of fact, it is the nature of saints that wherever they assemble like this, they praise the Almighty and establish a positive environment.

Saints, the behaviour of a child can bring praise for the child as well as his parents but his behaviour can bring criticism also. Similarly, the community or the society is watching us. Our behaviour can attract many people to the fold of the Mission. But if our behaviour is not good, they can distance from the Mission also. Baba Ji pointed out in his holy discourses many times that in the world today we have guided missiles but misguided man. In the atmosphere prevailing today, all are ready to fight and abuse each other on trifles.

Saints, Baba Ji has said in ‘Hardev Bani’ that instead of not having a sweet language or uttering bitter words, it would be better to remain quite. Your sweet and loving language, however, acts as a soothing balm, a medicine for the hearts in trouble or distress. May God bless all with sweet language that may bring hearts closer. No devotee of this Mission may hurt the feeling of others by his or her bitter words.”

Earlier, speaking on the occasion, Shri R.K Kapoor, Chairman of the Samagam Committee and Member Incharge Branches said that every devotee and Sewadal member cooperated, but the real credit goes to Satguru without whose benign blessings we could not have achieved such a success in the Samagam.

Shri K.M. Chhetri, Vice-Chairman of the Committee and Zonal Inchage, Silliguri thanked the local citizens who provided these vast grounds for the Samagam free of charge. He was also thankful to the Administration and said that all the Police and other officers concerned gave full support so that we faced no problem. He also thanked Sadh Sangat for their cooperation. He, however, said that everything could be accomplished successfully only due to the benign blessings of Satguru.
