Guru Pooja Diwas--2014

With the blessings of His Holiness, the Houston Texas family of saints celebrated Guru Pooja Diwas on February 23, 2014 at India House. This special occasion was the 60th birthday celebration of His Holiness Baba Hardev Singhji Maharaj. This holy day is celebrated at all the branches of Sant Nirankari Mission worldwide. Missionaries mark this day as a day of service and devotees participate in various community services.

The auspicious birthday and Guru Puja Diwas celebration started with community service at Houston Food Bank during the afternoon of February 22nd, 2014. Almost 33 saints offered their services in Houston Food Bank which helps homeless and poor people in the community by providing groceries and food for the hungry. These community services make differences in our lives by developing compassion and understanding for the needy.

Saints including children continued this celebration on February 23, 2014 at the usual Sunday congregation. On this day saints actively participated in divine services with full enthusiasm and danced together to vent their joy and celebrate the occasion. An impressive Sewadal rally was held after that. Saints went for the "Sewadal Prayer" and prayed, “Bless me Lord, that I may walk my days, tranquil in the shadow of your guidance'.

This wing of our Mission teaches the importance of discipline in our lives. A documentary of celebrations at many world centers, and live telecast from Delhi was shown in this congregation. The message of His Holiness was, "Treat everyone with love, even those who are rude to you; Not because they are not nice but because you are nice." People from other organizations witnessed the occasion and paid salute to the Master. While celebrating the day, it makes us feel deeply connected with our Lord Master and the joy and bliss soaks us in an ocean of gratitude. The feelings expressed by everyone for the ruler of our heart, on his birthday were: “My world revolves around you with full faith in you."

Rev Raj Bhala, the local in charge of Sant Nirankari Mission, thanked everyone for their efforts and conveyed the message of oneness. On this beautiful day, our sincere wish and prayer is that all of us really put our effort into experiencing this joy of sewa (selfless service). Let’s wear the costume of humility so that we can receive the love and cooperation of others.
