Food from the Devil! Faith & Self-Worth!

Life is full of expectations! And along with expectations, comes the package in which we constantly seek approval and appreciation from others. Little do we realize that our own confidence is what really establishes our self-worth. I came across these beautiful lines that I’d like to share with you:

“How many times have you waited for someone to reply to the message you wrote, but never received it? How many times have you dressed up for someone, waiting to hear from them that you’re beautiful? How many times have you waited for someone’s call, so that they can make you feel happy? How many times have you waited for someone to appreciate the work you’re doing, so it’s easier for you to continue doing it?

With the reply that never came, the compliment you didn’t hear, the phone call that wasn’t intended, and the appreciation that was held back – did you lose your self-worth.

Since kindergarten, we began to associate our self-worth with the golden stars our teachers gave us. By middle school, this turned into how popular people thought we were and by college, we were living on the compliments we received, and the number of people who praised us.

And till today, we think that our worth is determined by the way others perceive us. Thus, we want our boss to be happy with our work, we want our partners to constantly praise us, we want to be noticed, and we want to be appreciated.

Slowly, and gradually, this will harm us. Seeking approval and validation from others will change into a permanent, life-long struggle if we don’t start believing in ourselves. Stand in front of the mirror and look at yourself – carefully. Speak to your reflection.

Tell your reflection you are beautiful, you are strong. Tell your reflection that you appreciate yourself, that you love yourself, and want to make yourself happy. Tell your reflection that you’ll be there for yourself.

Because, sooner or later, you will realize that there is no one who will always be there for you, there is no one who can constantly praise you, appreciate you, and keep you happy. That is your job. And that job begins by believing that you can.”

This is a wonderful reminder for all of us to always focus on creating our own destiny by merely changing how we think. A Spiritual person always bases his or her self-worth on their Faith in God. Those who have a strong faith in God, live their lives with the confidence that nothing that happens in their life is wrong and that every situation they go through has a positive outcome. God neither plans anything bad for us, nor does He ever harm us. He often has to make us go through Tough-Love situations in which we always come out stronger and better than before. It is when He recognizes that it is time for us to grow and take on the world in a more profound way, that He makes us go through circumstances, which enhance us, Spiritually. Those who have a firm faith, don’t find life difficult. But those who live their lives amidst their own materialistic battles, find life difficult at every step.

A poor woman with a small family, called in to a radio station, asking for help from God. A non-believer man who was also listening to this radio program decided to make fun of the woman. He got her address, called his secretary and ordered her to buy a large amount of assorted foods and take them to the woman. However, he sent it with the following instructions: "When the woman asks who sent the food, tell her that it’s from the devil."
When the secretary arrived at the woman's house, the woman was very happy and grateful for the help that had been received. She started putting away the food inside her small house. The Secretary then asked her, "Don't you want to know who sent the food?" The woman replied, "No, I don't even care because when GOD orders, even the devil obeys...

Always remember: When you put everything in God’s Hands, you will find God’s hand in everything!

-Until next time, this is Preet Sahi reminding you to Stay Spiritual!r>
