Manav Ekta Diwas (Human Unity Day)

The Calgary Branch of the Sant Nirankari Mission celebrated Manav Ekta Diwas in remembrance of the lives and sacrifices of all saints and sages including the supreme sacrifice of Baba Gurbachan Singh Ji. To fulfil His Holiness' vision that "blood is to flow in veins and not in drains", a blood donation clinic was organized on April 19, and the main congregation was held on April 28. The main congregation was highlighted by a devotional song performed by the youth and various inspirational speeches encouraging listeners to take inspiration from Baba Gurbachan Singh Ji's practical approach to creating one universal human family. The bal sangat touched the hearts of all attendees with their performance of the NIS Anthem - Won by One.

Blood Donation Clinic

This year's blood donation clinic proved extra special as the Sant Nirankari Mission and Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association partnered together to host the clinic at the Baitunnur Mosque. The clinic was dedicated to the celebration of Human Unity which was seen in action as the volunteers from both organizations worked together harmoniously to make the event a success.

With the blessings of His Holiness, members of both organizations showed their dedication to the cause of human unity by rolling up their sleeves and donating blood. Over 100 people attended the event including many first time donors, and 65 units of blood were collected. Some people were unable to donate due to screening requirements which are in place to ensure the health and safety of all donors and recipients. Canadian Blood Services representatives, Lisa Castro (Community Development Coordinator) and Stephen Wright (Regional Partnership Specialist), were also in attendance. Lisa and Stephen were very grateful for the efforts of both organizations and appreciated their dedication to human unity.
