Guru Pooja Diwas 2013 Report

The Calgary Branch of the Sant Nirankari Mission celebrated Guru Puja Diwas with much excitement and enthusiasm with activities spanning over two days. The main congregation was held on February 23, with a sewadal rally organized on February 24. The main congregation was highlighted by devotional songs performed by the youth as well as a video documentary created for His Holiness by the bal sangat. The Mission also marks this occasion (the birth of His Holiness Nirankari Baba Ji) by making a positive contribution in the community.

Community Contribution

On this occasion, the Calgary branch participated in the Mission's national food collection drive and donated much needed non-perishable food items to the local food bank. Ms. Julie Brewster, Development Coordinator, from the Calgary Food Bank attended the congregation and recognized the Mission for our donation. She was very appreciative of the Mission's positive contribution to the community and the partnership that we have developed with the Calgary Food Bank. This year, with the blessings of His Holiness and the generosity of the congregation, we were able to donate 3000 pounds of food (as compared to 900 pound in 2012).

Sewadal Rally

A sewadal rally was organized on February 24. All of the local sewadal participated in this rally to show their gratitude to His Holiness for blessing them with the opportunity to serve the Mission and humanity at large. The rally started with the sewadal prayer followed by physical training exercises. Rev. Surjit Virk Ji, while presiding over the sewadal rally, praised the sewadal for their dedication and enthusiasm in carrying out their duties throughout the year. He also highlighted the virtues that sewadal members must adopt to fulfil their responsibilities and lead a blissful life. Local sewadal leaders, Gurmohan Brar Ji and Amarjit Dhami Ji, presented the presiding saint with the thaili donation on behalf of the sewadal and sadh sangat.
