Berkeley Interfaith Meeting Report

On September 17, 2008, members of the Nirankari Mission Tracy Branch attended a gathering coordinated by The Universal Peace Federation in Berkeley, CA. USA.  Attendees from the Nirankari Mission included Rev. Dev Raj Vijh (who attended even though he was not feeling well physically),  Anmol Sharma, Gurvinder, Jaspreet, Romie.  Other friends of Nirankari devotees who attended from the Stockton, CA area included Pastor Anderson, and Hussain and his son.  The purpose of the gathering was to promote interfaith harmony and understanding, as Christians, Muslims, Jews, and other various nationalities were represented.  There was a speaker from France, Dr. Jacque who gave a historical example of the role of faith in bringing Europeans together after World War II.  At the conclusion of the gathering prayers were conducted by the representatives of the various faiths in there own language.  Afterwards it could be heard by many of the attendees that it felt like all the world had come together in one home.

Anmol Sharma spoke on behalf of the Nirankari Mission and reiterated the teachings of Babaji by commenting that we are all human beings first, and that the formless Nirankar does not distinguish his children by religion, but sees all as 'One'.  He continued his comments by noting that we have to have knowledge and wisdom to overcome the world's ignorance of the true nature of mankind.  We are all God's children was the conclusion of his thoughts and repeated emphatically by all the various human beings who were at the gathering.  The gathering with the Peace Federation, represented the second event Nirankari Mission devotees attended.  We were all pleased to hear that members of the Peace Federation stated that they are planning to attend a Satsang at the Tracy Bhavan very soon.
