To commemorate the ‘Manav Ekta Divas’, seventy Blood Donation
Camps were organized on April 24, 2011 by Sant Nirankari Mission
through Sant Nirankari Charitable Foundation in various States
of the country. One of these camps was organized at Sant
Nirankari Satsang Bhawan Sector 30-A, Chandigarh in which as
many as 598 volunteers donated blood, including 143 women.
The camp was inaugurated by Dr. B. S. Cheema, Ex-Director,
Health Services Punjab and Zonal Incharge, Chandigarh.
Encouraging the donors, Dr. Cheema said that blood donation is a
veritable proof of human oneness and cosmic integrity. He added
that human blood has no substitution so far because it is a gift
of Almighty God. This blood would cure many sick people and
endow them good health. Dr. Cheema further said that
the premier institutions of the city are highly appreciative of
the spirit of the Nirankari devotees as they always gleefully
and gratefully offer themselves for this noble cause.
Chandigarh city is the nerve centre for whole of the
Chandigarh Zone and surrounding areas. Every year, the number of
camps in this zone is increasing. In the year 2009, 12 camps
were held contributing 3313 blood units, whereas, in 2010, 14
camps were organized which contributed 4067 blood units. And
this year, 17 camps have been proposed to be held in Chandigarh
zone.
This Camp was organized by Shri Mohinder Singh, Parmukh of
Chandigarh Branch, with the help of Nirankari Sewa Dal
volunteers.
A team of more than 20 doctors and other staff
led by Dr. Mrs. Usha Rao, Blood Transfusion Officer, PGIMER,
Chandigarh, conducted the 7-hour hi-tech blood collection
operations. Dr. Rao said, “The enthusiastic response of donors
is a unique factor in the Nirankari Blood Donation Camps which I
