Sant Nirankari Mission, Brisbane got involved with
Brisbane Flood Relief Volunteer Camp to participate in Clean
Up Australia on 25th, 26th and 28th January and 2nd February
2011. Brisbane has faced this natural calamity after 1974
and Committee Member Rev. Vijay Arora and Rev. Paramjit
Singh coordinated the Sewa with Brisbane City Council and
divided the devotees into teams.
About 25 devotees of the Mission participated in this
cleanup drive. All participants were briefed about safety
measures and provided with rubbish bags, gloves, sunscreen,
water and other protective gears. Devotees took about three
to five hours every day to complete the project. After
completing the Sewa every
day, the devotees expressed their thanks to Almighty Nirankar
and His Holiness. Saints who could not physically take up the
road cleanup due to health or other reasons encouraged the other
participating saints and engaged in serving them with breakfast,
tea, water and other condiments.
The Mukhi of SNM, Brisbane, Rev Mithu Ji, blessed the
devotees with certificates after the Sewa and commended their
selfless efforts. He further prayed to His Holiness that such
divine thoughts of devotees be strengthened and they continue to
participate in service of the community. It was a clear
demonstration of an extraordinary spirit in taking action to
help communities and the environment. Brisbane Council also
expressed their thanks for the efforts made by SNM Brisbane
volunteers who proved their selfless service by participating in
this community cleaning drive.
