Local Special Needs School’s Educational visit to Yorkshire
Bhawan

12th March 2010: Following last year’s successful visit,
a group of children from Chapel Grange School, paid an
educational visit to the SNM Yorkshire Bhawan (UK). Chapel
Grange School is a co-educational secondary special school
for students aged 11-19 with a range of severe and moderate
learning difficulties, including additional complex needs
and autism.
The class, along with their teacher Christine Finn and
Support Assistant Ian, were welcomed by local committee
members and volunteers. The visit was arranged by local
sangat member, Sister Mindo Ji, who works as a Teaching
Support Assistant.
The group was given a guided tour of the main
congregational hall by Brother Bhupinder Chohan who also
introduced the ideals and philosophy of the Nirankari
Mission and His Holiness' vision of world peace and unity;
through love and compassion for fellow man irrespective of
cast, colour or creed.
After listening carefully to the introduction, the
children asked questions and then completed their task
sheets which involved them writing a brief summary about the
mission and also drawing and colouring pictures of what they
could see around them.
Staff members with the group acknowledged and echoed the
sentiments of the Nirankari Mission and were interested to
comeback and learn more; they also expressed interest in
participating in future SNM organized events. They thanked
ALL involved for the friendly welcome and hospitality. As an
appreciation of the kitchen volunteers’ efforts, the
children embraced and presented them with several bouquets
of flowers.
