To mark this year’s Easter celebrations, local saints
from Yorkshire Nirankari Bhawan organised an Easter charity
fair on Saturday 3rd April 2010.
Highlighting His Holiness Baba Hardev Singh Ji’s message
of spreading love and humanity in the wider community
through self-less service, the charity event was inundated
with the generosity of resources and donations by saints.
Local Parmukh Rev Jawahar Singh Ji, along with other
committee members, inaugurated the event, which was attended
by saints and friends from the local Sangat and community.
The event comprised of raffles, a balloon race, naming the
Easter bunny, and food and cakes stalls - which were
prepared and run by saints.
Children also participated in an egg painting and a
drawing competition. Prizes were awarded for the best egg
decoration and best drawing during the Sunday Congregation
and certificates of achievement were awarded to all the
participants to acknowledge their tremendous efforts.
Brother Bhupinder Chohan, through a presentation to the
attendees, conveyed that Easter symbolises the new life and
the resurrection of Lord Jesus Christ who delivered the
message of love to mankind. Our Lord Master, Baba Hardev
Singh Ji, conveys this same message today, which is to love
everybody regardless of caste, creed or colour and to
establish humility amongst the whole of humanity. The
Mission’s Vision is established on the key principle of
“Universal Brotherhood”. Baba Ji teaches us not to
discriminate against anyone on these grounds, but to love
and respect everyone as our own brothers & sisters.
The event finale was the balloon race, where all the
attendees attached messages of the mission’s philosophy to
the balloons, and released them into the air. As the
balloons went higher and higher into the sunny blue sky, it
brought to mind the concept of detached attachment and the
liberation of the soul.
The balloons, with their unity of diverse colours, were
very symbolic and inspirational as they reflected Baba Ji’s
message of Universal Brotherhood; that our soul is an
integral part of the over soul - essentially we are all the
same other than our outward appearance.
