National UK Sewa Dal Camp 2010




The UK’s first National Sewa Dal Camp of 2010 was held at West Midlands Sant Nirankari Satsang Bhawan on Saturday 17th April and Sunday 18th April 2010. It was attended by approximately 250 Sewa Dal members from London, Ilford, Erith, Hitchin, Bedford, Oxford, Leicester, West Midlands, Bradford and Glasgow.

Commencing with solemn Sewadal prayers to Satguru instil the spirit of selfless devotion, all attendees received feedback from Adhikaris on activities in their respective towns, followed by PT, parade and Marching Song of the Sewa Dal rededicating themselvesl for the service of mankind.

Rev Sukhjinder Singh Ji, executive Member-in-Charge explained in detail the importance of Sewa; that Sewa Dal should be eager to fulfil all acts of sewa without prejudice as no sewa is greater or lesser than any other.

The last session of the first day, a highlight in the form of the Camp fire from 10.00pm in the grounds of the Bhawan where all of the Sewa Dal members: young and old; gathered around the fire playing ‘Gurmukh Antakshari’ with the Mission’s songs. Holy Sister Renuka Ji joined in and blessed all. Towards the end, brother Vinod Wadali ji from India sung melodious songs which everyone really enjoyed.

The second day started in the early morning with Sewa Dal Games energetically participated in by all the Sewa Dal members including the Bal (children) Sewa Dal.

All members attended the weekly Sunday Sangat in the Bhawan. Sewa Dal are members of the Sangat first and foremost and are not separate from the sangat. As Sewa Dal members, however, they have a duty to ensure that all the needs of the sangat and the Satsang Bhawans are fulfilled by them without a second thought. The postulation blessings were delivered by Rev Upashak Ji, who had himself been an Adhikari of the UK Sewa Dal in the past. He reminded everyone that Sewa Dal members must always work together with love, humility highlighting all the spiritual qualities endowed by the Satguru.

The penultimate session concentrated on the sharing of key experiences from recent tours by His Holiness Baba Hardev Singh Ji Maharaj in 2009. Inderjit Sidhu ji and Vishavpreet Singh ji emphasised how the spirit of dedication, attention to detail and above all alertness coupled with dignified composure at all times in the presence of His Holiness are paramount, not only by those accompanying His Holiness, but by all the Sewa Dal wherever they may be at all times.

Lastly training was given by Kuldeep Roopra Ji and Ajmer Ji on fire drills, basic First Aid along with other important aspects of Health and Safety.
