What better way can there be of celebrating the end of
one decade and the beginning of another than an event
promoting togetherness and the realisation of a universal
brotherhood:
With the grace of Satguru Baba Hardev Singh Ji Maharaj,
devotees of the Sant Nirankari Mission UK, took part in the
Peace Cup, the Mission's annual football tournament for children
and adults.
On the 18th of December 2010, for the first time, this sports
tournament was held in the city of Bradford at the Richard Dunn
Sports Centre. Playing host to the inaugural tournament
providing an opportunity for the Yorkshire Branch of the Sant
Nirankari Mission to partake in service of saints from other UK
branches.
Several teams gathered from Bedford, Bradford, Erith,
Leicester and London to both celebrate the realisation of this
formless Nirankar and to partake in this tournament, with
several devotees arriving the day before at the Yorkshire
Satsang Bhawan on to bath in the spiritual bliss of each other's
company, taking the opportunity to rejoice this formless
Nirankar and better acquaint themselves with each other. One of
the primary purposes of such Social and Welfare events, as
prescribed by His Holiness Satguru Baba Hardev Singh Ji Maharaj,
is to enhance the internal unity amongst saints. The gathering
of saints from across the UK at the Yorkshire Satsang Bhawan
provided the platform to deliver Satguru's vision of enhancing
internal love and unity.
To commence the tournament, Social Welfare In-charge Rev.
Mahesher Singh Bhumbra Ji said that this tournament was about
unity, creating a collectiveness between all participants and a
living illustration of spreading peace which stems from the core
principals of the Mission.
Devotees began games by bowing and touching each others feet
and acknowledging the God which resides within us all. Some
teams were even seen praying together before each match.
After several hours of intense and entertaining football,
Bedford A won the adults tournament with Bradford winning the
youth event.
During the awards ceremony, all of the local Bradford
devotees, including Parmukh Rev. Jawahar Singh Ji, were praised
for all their selfless service and their hospitality.
