Tree Plantation Campaign organized by Sant Nirankari Mission

Sant Nirankari Mission organized a Tree Plantation
Campaign on August 8, 2010 at Burari, New Delhi. The
campaign was formally inaugurated by His Holiness Baba
Hardev Singh Ji Maharaj, the Head of the Mission, when he
planted the first sapling in the Samagam Ground; Nirankari
Rajmata Kulwant Kaur Ji and Pujya Mata Savinder Kaur Ji also
planted a sapling each. More than 25000 devotees carried
out the campaign in which 5000 saplings are being planted in
North Delhi along Outer Ring road between Wazirabad and
Mubarakpur crossings; this is in addition to 5000 trees
which are being planted in other parts of the capital.
Blessing the devotees on the occasion, His Holiness Baba
Hardev Singh Ji Maharaj stated;

“All of you have gathered here on this occasion to make
contribution for an attempt to give beauty to Earth.
Governments, organizations and world bodies have been making
a constant effort to bring about an awakening for the
importance of tree plantation crucial for the damage being
caused by global warming or ecological imbalance. Earth has
a vast variety of species including the most important human
species; the unabated damage to the planet will affect the
human species the maximum, irrespective of the country
different humans inhabit! That is why a serious attention
should be paid in this direction.
In this connection, the Mission is making a humble
contribution by organizing this event today in Delhi. As all
know, a large part of Delhi has already been made green; we can
see much greenery on both the sides of roads when we travel in
Delhi; even those who come here from other cities and countries
mention that they find much greenery here! This is indeed a
very beautiful attempt to give more beauty to Delhi; trees not
only give beauty but also help in removing the pollution caused
by traffic which causes many diseases and health problems.
Earlier in the year on February 23 also an announcement was
made that trees would be planted throughout the country all
through the year; and indeed tree plantation has been carrying
on in a small scale in different places. At that time also I
had mentioned that tree plantation is not a one-day but an
on-going process.
Such is the awareness which is being brought about; as all of
you saw and heard, even young school going students are also
being given a similar awareness which they presented through
their beautiful presentation. According to a quote, 'he that
plants trees loves others besides himself' – so those who plant
trees express their feeling for others' welfare; by doing so,
one helps others as well as oneself and also the planet. One
can see some greenery in the form of crops and farming in rural
areas but our metropolitan cities are fast becoming concrete
jungles; it is here that greenery is needed the maximum. For
this reason the contribution being made by different Govts.,
NGOs and other organizations and individuals is indeed a welcome
step. May all continue making such an effort.”
