The walk for values is an event held every year to
commemorate the goals and values of various ethnic groups in
Canada. This walk originally started in Scarborough,
Ontario, Canada eight years ago and has since grown in
popularity. This year the event was organized in Toronto on
May 30th, 2010. More than 2,500 people attended the event,
making this the biggest turnout yet. The participants of
this event were from all age groups from toddlers to senior
citizens. People from various ethnic groups gathered at
Dundas Square in downtown Toronto with signs, floats and
messages of peace, love, and unity.
The Sant Nirankari Mission’s youth also attended the
event with lot of enthusiasm. The youth carried signage
showing messages of Satguru Baba Hardev Singh Ji Maharaj such as
“Religion Unites Never Divides”, “Peace Not Pieces, let’s Work
for it” and “Love All, Hate None”. The organizers of the event
acknowledged the mission’s presence with warm welcome.
At the event, the youth were involved in pre-warm ups that
encouraged the entire crowd to stretch and dance before the
forty-five minute walk. During this time, the youth also
interacted with other diverse groups and spread the message of
the mission. Many people inquired about the mission’s philosophy
and how the mission can help improve the world. People
appreciated the universal message the mission portrays.
Overall, this walk for values was a great success and with
the blessings of the Satguru we may not only walk for values but
work for values in our daily lives too.
