Yoga Feast and Christmas Party Celebrations at Sant Nirankari
Bhawan (West Midlands)

For many years now, the Sant Nirankari Mission in the
West Midlands have supported Local Government and delivered
Yoga Classes, to encourage well being and good health in the
community. In recent times, Yoga has been considered as a
great alternative therapy and the Mission in conjunction
with Sandwell Adult Education and Family Learning now runs
three classes a week for the community without any cost.
It was decided to hold a Christmas party and yoga feast
after the English Satsang on the 10th December 2009 to
create further awareness of the Yoga initiative. Daljit
Mehta ji provided an insight into the philosophy of the
Mission through his discourse as many new faces joined this
occasion. After the Discourse all those who registered
joined in the feast and entertainment for the evening.
Respected Upashak Ji acted as master of ceremonies and
outlined the order of proceedings. Respected Sukhjinder
Singh ji welcomed everyone to the evening and spoke of the
work of the Mission to create Harmony in the Community.
Thereafter, Acharyia Praveen Kumar ji gave an insight
into the benefits of Yoga, Healthy Food which was being
served and also healthy living. He also mentioned that in
January with the support of Family Learning, a new free
course in Personal Health and Fitness was being commenced at
the Bhawan. There was an immediate interest and take up of
the course. Pursuant to speeches, Professor Amar Singh and
other artists provided entertainment by way of a Sitar
Recital and the singing of some Ghazals.
Healthy food was being served and enjoyed by everyone.
During this time a group of South Indian devotees performed
a classical dance. In order to promote Yoga some of the
students from the class illustrated postures that they had
learned. At the conclusion as vote of thanks was given and
in particular we recognise the wonderful contribution of
Achariya Praveen Kumar ji, Sister Sangeeta Ji and Brother
Vishu Ji for putting the event together.
All guests on the evening were given a bag containing
literature and CD’s about the Mission and its projects. The
evening was enjoyed by all illustrating how the Mission is
applying its `resources to focus on the well being of the
community. The education and information received on the
evening also created awareness about Yoga and was
appreciated by all.
