British Army keen to recruit Young Officers from Sant
Nirankari Mission
Following the interest expressed by the
British Army in recruiting young Officers from ethnic
minorities, youth from the Sant Nirankari Mission, West
Midlands organized a seminar – “Officer Careers in the
British Army”, on the 17th of July 2009 at the Wednesbury
Bhawan. The seminar was attended by about 25 youngsters and
parents from West Midlands and surrounding areas. The
British Army was represented by Lt. Col. John Moody, who is
an Army Careers Advisor. The seminar lasted for about an
hour followed by one-to-one discussion with the interested
youngsters.
Lt. Col. Moody said that the British Army
would like to have more number of young officers from ethnic
minorities, more women officers and more graduates. He said
that the British Army provides careers in fields ranging
from Medicine to Engineering, Law to HR & Finance, Logistics
to Music and of course in Combat. He further said that the
British Army also provides scholarships to young and
talented individuals studying at school or university who
wish to join the British Army later as a career.
Lt. Col. Moody finally explained how the British Army not
only provides a stable and a highly rewarding career but
also helps in developing one’s personality by imbibing
values like honesty, integrity, loyalty and discipline. Also
present at the seminar was Rev. H.S. Bhatia (Upashak Ji) who
has been helping the British Army as an advisor, for a long
time, to recruit from ethnic minorities. While addressing
the gathering, Rev. Upashak Ji said that the values that
Sant Nirankari Mission has imbibed in its Youngsters are a
perfect match for the British Army, which has been carrying
out Peace Keeping and Humanitarian Missions around the
world.
Later, Lt. Col. Moody was introduced to Rev. Sukhjinder
Singh Ji, General Secretary, Sant Nirankari Mandal, UK and
other local committee members. He was told about the Mission
and humanitarian activities that it has been carrying out
over the years. Before leaving, Lt. Col. Moody thanked the
organizers for inviting him and organizing such a seminar.
He also invited a lot of youngsters to visit him at the Army
Careers Office for a detailed discussion on their careers.
