Sant Nirankari Mission, Melbourne
observed the International Day of Peace on 20th September, 2009 at Sant
Nirankari Bhawan, Rowville.
By creating the International Day of
Peace, the UN pledged itself to worldwide peace and encouraged mankind
to work in cooperation for this goal. The International Day of Peace -
"Peace Day" provides an opportunity for individuals, organizations and
nations to create practical acts towards peace.
Sant Nirankari Mission Melbourne took
this opportunity to invite Cr Mick Van de Vreede (Councilor - Tirhatuan
Ward) Knox City Council along with his partner Rosy to be a part of this
celebration. Cr Vreede recognised the Mission’s effort with great
respect and honoured the Mission and its members by officially welcoming
to the local City Council.
SNM Members organised a 'Tree
Plantation Drive' to mark this day and Cr Mick V appreciated the
Mission’s gesture of thinking globally and acting locally.
SNM held a congregation on following
day, Sunday, 21st September 2009 during which saints shared some views
on International Day of Peace and shed light on how we could contribute
to World Peace.
