ROMANCE WITH GOD

The Formless Lord is above and beyond,
Any thought or image to which man may respond.
He is infinite, vast - the maker of all,
From the tiniest creatures to the mountains so tall!

The Formless Lord is the named and the nameless,
He resides in all places, yet is entirely frameless.
His creation, indeed, we may chop and divide,
Whether pieces of land, whether seas or the skies.
But where to begin, in the realm of the divine?
Every particle carries His mark and His sign

Some say the Lord is pleased with devotion
With chants, prayers and all kinds of commotion!
Dressing in silk, cloth and fabric so fine,
With symbols and structures, of heavenly signs.
But awake O man! Of what worth are these?
In empty worship, how can God be pleased?

Worship is homeless in empty structures,
It gives no shelter - it is dry and ruptured!
It is like a school, without lesson or master,
No growth, inspiration - here, or hereafter!

God made the world, and exists in it too,
The world lives in God - this is also true.
But the things of the world, are not the way,
They come and they go, they change and they sway.

Seek the beloved - beyond form, beyond shape.
In nothing that man break or create.
Romance with god needs the beloved Himself
To behold and embrace, in spiritual wealth.
