The path to God's heart
- by Harpreet Gill
Have you ever wondered as to the greatest virtue of a Saint? Is it love, wisdom, humility, cheerfulness, selfless service, prayer or preaching? What would be the greatest thing one could do to please the Master? Where does the waterfall of virtue begin it’s flow?
His Holiness only recently stressed on the point of love and humility. Wherever we see, we see that ego is burning in the fire of pride and that hatred is spreading like an uncontrollable disease. If we are to please God then we are to address the balance thus these virtues are to be expanded within one’s life. To do God’s work is to do the work of a human being. One must see the divine in all, rendering love for all as if each person was his own.
When Jesus Christ was asked by a lawyer as to which was the greatest commandment of the 10 Jesus replied.
Thou shall love the Lord the God with all thy heart,
And with all thy soul, and with thy entire mind.
This is the first and great commandment.
And the second is like unto it.
Thou shall love thy neighbour as thyself.
On these two commandments hang all the law
And the prophets.
(Mathew 22:37-41)
Here Jesus had said to the audience that the essence of an enlightened being is to follow the first two commandments. The first being that one should love God to the core of his being, submerge into his ocean of love and thus become a beacon of his love. Once this state of being is achieved then one can love all in the same manner as he loves his ‘true self’.
If we wish to please our sweet Satguru then we must walk this path of spirituality. We must create a sacred space within us and allow him to flow through us like the current in the wind, spontaneous and everlasting.
