Actions speak louder than words

A father sent his two sons a letter, telling each of them that he was arriving in their town soon.

When the first son received the letter, he was so happy with the news that he went out and told all his friends, beighbours, and everybody else.  When the second son received the letter, he simply read and it put it away.

When the father arrived at the town, the second son was there waiting at the train station to collect him and take him home.  The father greeted his second son but noticed that his first son was nowhere to be seen.  He asked his second son where the first son was and the second son replied that maybe he did not received the letter.  Both father and son went to the first son’s house to meet him.  The father asked his first son, “Why did you not come to collect me from the station? Didn’t you receive my letter?”

The first son replied, “Yes I did receive it.  I was so happy that I showed it to all my friends.  I even framed the letter and hung it on the wall.”

The father looked at the letter and then looked at his son.  He explained to his son that there was no point in becoming happy upon the arrival of the letter if he did not act upon the words in the letter.

Similarly, there is no point in merely doing congregation, enjoying the words and simply telling everybody else what you have heard.  It is more beneficial to us and everybody else if we act upon what we here.  This way, everyone can truly enjoy the meaning of the wise words spoken.

Today the world already has enough people to deliver long and flowery speeches of love and peaceful living, but there is still so much war and suffering wherever we look.  Why is this so?  It is because we need to peace more emphasis on actually loving, rather than taking of love; of tolerating rather than explaining the meaning of tolerance; and of treating each other as true brothers and sisters as part of one family.
