A Way Of Being

- Karen Punn

Toronto, Age 12 years

Many times I’ve been asked what my religion was.

My ultimate reaction was that I was ‘Hindu’ and not

a follower of the Nirankari Mission.  Then after a

while I thought, why should I be afraid of stating

what my beliefs are?  After all, every religion

teaches the same essential message: to love

everyone and how to be a better person, on the

inside and out.

This question came up again and I told the person

that I belonged to a spiritual movement known as

the Nirankari Mission and followed a living

spiritual guide. I wasn’t surprised when the person

asked me what that was.  I told her that it wasn’t

really a religion and it was more like a way of being.

It was a place where people of every colour and

creed was welcome.  It was a global gathering for

people of all ages, and place to learn to love

everyone for whom they are.

The moral of this experience is not to be

embarrassed of who you are and that we are very

fortunate to belong to such a great Mission.
